The Gorn are in the new Star Trek videogame that comes out next year. So if anything like this happens it would be there.
I actually addressed this scene to the game's producer when I interviewed him and here is what he had to say:

Brian Miller: OK. I want to know.
Jeffrey Harris: Kirk and a Gorn leader. Rocky field area. A rock. A rock being thrown by Kirk at the Gorn. The Gorn has to be moving really slowly. Kirk throws a rock at it. The Gorn barely responds to the blow and he's just going to keep moving slowly. What can you tell me?
Brian Miller: That sounds exactly like something we would do for this game.
Jeffrey Harris: So you know what I'm talking about?
Brian Miller: I know *exactly* what you're talking about. We need a bamboo stick with some chemicals. We absolutely need to have that.
