What people are saying is that more care should have been taken along the way to avoid the continuity errors, because at present it's like a jigsaw that doesn't quite fit together.
It seems likely that Singer will use the idea of alternate timelines and multiverses to explain away some of the differences, and perhaps he will incorporate conversations or events that deal with some of the other problems. At least, we can hope that's the case.
Honestly, that's the only way to fix it. Otherwise, this new series has to stand on its own and have no connection to the original films or The Wolverine.
