Tony tells her to put the armor on, or JARVIS to make her. I think she puts it on voluntarily to try to save Tony --- nod towards "Rescue" armor after all --- and Mandarin spots "Iron Man," naturally assumes it's Tony in the suit, and proceeds to kill "him." Her. Then Tony spends the rest of the movie truly alone.
