Agreed, that image is one of my favourite. As a huge fan it's horrific but ultimately, powerful. They shouldn't shy away from that type of thing.
Also, I think it's very narrow minded to assume that a characters death might mean they aren't done 'justice'. Seeing a beloved X-Men nobly and defiantly go down fighting can be both a spectacular action scene and incredibly moving and true to their character. Try and tell me Cyclops, Storm, Wolvie, Jean, Nightcrawler, Collossus or anyone else wouldn't be capable of self sacrifice to save the future for all mutants or that it would be a disservice and I'll promptly point you towards the nearest comic book shop.
