Times of crisis always seem to encourage the consumption of escapist fantasy. People want to forget about real life for a little while. Superman and Batman were created during the Great Depression after all. If the marketing for this movie continues to solid, I feel like Man of Steel could be coming at just the right moment to be a massive hit.
This. I will stand by that same belief that the world needs Superman and now is the perfect time for a comeback. Though its a bit cliche/cheesy to say it its true. There's pretty much a Superhero movie every year but not one that truly represents hope. The Dark Knight nailed that theme in the ground perfectly and ran with it but in a dark sense. I think MoS will reembody that same type of Hope but in a lighter sense.
That's what has always made Superman/Batman so unique and different from one another. I expect MoS/Superman to be gritty but not grounded like Batman was in TDK trilogy or Superman in SR if that makes any sense. This Superman looks like he can do anything, and the world ain't seen nothin' yet.
