Having the characters being portrayed differently than their comic counterparts doesn't bother me. I know a lot of people hate the "in name only" type route since you've all been reading the comics forever and love them. But to me as a non-comic reader, as long as the characters on film work well and mesh well within the context of the film or the Phase they are in then as a movie goer I am happy. And it seems like this movie is doing that perfectly, from the reviews posted the "twist" or whatever is being praised and only will upset those who expect the INO characters to be comic equals, which I never expect and actually like when they don't keep them equals but expand or change them to enhance the movie world.
This is pretty much how i look at it too. Black and Feige made it pretty clear their version of the Mandain wasn't going to be similar at all to the character from the comics.
