Bond and Star Trek are big franchises. They will always get more publicity in the mainstream than superheroes. Also, neither of those films included backstory stuff. They just went straight into a new story (something that Man of Steel should perhaps have done, rather than rehashing the Krypton origin scenes).
And both those films were incredibly well-received; both get 95 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes.
For some reason, the gap in Bond movies feels like it was huge before Casino Royale though I checked and it was just four years after Die Another Day.
Star Trek 11 came after a seven-year break for the series and revived a dying franchise. Arguably, Bond could also have been on the way out when Die Another Die reached the heights (or depths) of absurdity.
