I don't see how the character's level of attractiveness should have any bearing on how much weight her death carries. That reeks of typical fanboy female objectification. Anyway, I really don't understand when people say things like, "I was happy when Rachel died!". Even if you one doesn't like the character, that seems to show a lack of investment in Bruce and Harvey's characters and the fact that the woman they both love was brutally blown away. I still think Maggie did great in the death scene, pulling off all those conflicting emotions...trying to reassure Harvey even as she it dawns on her that she's probably going to die.
I'm not the biggest fan of the Rachel character, but one thing I'll say is I often felt like Katie was trying to be mature and tough, whereas Maggie felt more authentic in that. Katie felt more like a girl and Maggie felt like a woman. In an odd way I think they both fit their respective movies though, even though recasting is always less than ideal.
