It's pretty much down to individual theatres which trailers get attached to currently showing films, nothing Marvel or any other studio have control over.

Yeah, IM3 started releasing character posters around mid-February.
Moreover, IM3's second trailer was released early March. With TDW's second trailer coming out Aug 7, that puts it a month ahead of IM3's schedule, so for anyone bi***ing about marketing:
