Except for the fact that
Iron Man is in the current incarnation of GOTG.
Except for the fact that the comic-book GOTG very definitely exist in the greater
616 universe as a whole.
Except for the fact that
Star-Lord, Drax, Moondragon, Jack Flag, Tony Stark and even
Adam Warlock come from 616 Earth.
Except for the fact that MCU
Thanos definitely provides linkage between "both" parts of the MCU already. As do
Thor and the rest of the Asgardians, and all the other alien gods in the Nine Realms.
Except for the fact that the rumormongers who correctly ID'ed the actual cast of GOTG also stated flatly that John C Reilly's
Rhomann Dey character is a liaison to
SHIELD and answers to
Nick Fury.
These "separate" parts of the MCU already coexist. There is nothing there to "merge"......since they're already one and the same universe.
