Uh, what was wrong with Thor's marketing? There were TONS of Tv spots and sneak peaks across a lot of stations and TV shows. The only weird marketing choice that I saw was the not releasing the toys till after the movie premiered. There was also no fast food/thrift store marketing this time (i.e. cups and stuff) but it appears Disney doesn't do that stuff anymore anyway.
Actually in my country, there's a fast food marketing Thor: the Dark World, they even give out Thor's Hammer USB.
