In Iron Man 3
, Tony also called his workshop "the birthing suite" and told his bots and suits to welcome their bouncing, badass baby brother, the Mark 42. He not only has a deep attachment to his creations, he also gave Dum-E, U and JARVIS very distinct personalities so that he can interact with them. JARVIS even sasses Tony and makes jokes at his expense. So it's clear that Tony has a sort of parental relationship to his intelligent creations. How this will play into the creation of Ultron, if it does at all, will be interesting to see.
