Live action. The first live-action film was great. The fact that the martial arts performers could work in those suits is doubly impressive. I'd like to think after 16 years, creature effects have improved even more.

Live Action.

I'd like to see a modern take on the Ninja Turtles sometime soon. Just like they did with Batman Begins.

Live action with CG turtles. Or just live action. But not just CG.

About the new TMNT movie, are all the characters in the movie gonna be CGI or is it just the turtles and Splinter?

The original 1990 movie is PERFECT. One of the best comic-to-film translations ever.

How about a Superman Returns-style sequel to that, ignoring Turtles II and -gulp!- III?

am afraid the whole movie is CGI however....the official miciro site is up
but Id rather it was totally CGI than like scooby-doo! just hopin the turtles look a lot better than the earlier promo posters from last year- they looked too cartoony.

I'd be happy with a Special edition of the 1990 version with a completely remastered anamorphic widescreen transfer with a DTS ssoundtrack and tons of special features.

TMNT 1 is to this day my favorite comic book film. Even surpasses Spider-Man 2,Spider-Man,Batman Begins, and Superman 1. Live action.

I thought I was alone. It truly is an underrated gem in my opinion too. It's not only a good story but a beautiful movie, the shots of them training in the woods.. awesome... Nothing I've seen aside from the new cartoon can touch its quality and relative faithfulness to the source. Wtf happened with the sequels.. geez... everything started so well.

and this new movie better rock!

cowabunga!

I say CGI simply because I think they took the animatronic Turtles as far as they can go; time for something different if you're gonna do it at all.

I just got done watching the original TMNT movie. God, how I love this movie. It brought back a lot of good memories of my friend and I going to see it in theaters. I haven't watched in about 13 years and it still is one of the best comic book movies ever put on film.

There is no director's cut.

There are two different versions in the UK though - the 1991 VHS and the 2005 DVD.

yeah, the british version was cut due to stricter censorship they couldnt use the word ninja(although the British govt couldn't afford to change the actual movie title, just the soundtrack) and the nunchakus because kids could easily recreacte them.

the british 1990 cut ran at 86 minutes, whereas the full version is 98. the 2005 dvd has alot of those previously edited scenes restored...but not all of them!!!!

When I was a kid back in 89, an american friend of mines' uncle had sent him a pirate video of the tmnt movie (turtles hadnt hit britain yet and my friend was so into them and I was like...what the hell?) and I swear that that pirate video had even more scenes.

I swear there was a bit where they are out in the forest and leo turns his
bandana around so its a blindfold and challenges the other three turtles to a fight and whips them. at this point hes ready to channel splinter or whatever.

Now, I know that I didnt make that up?! so where the hell is it on the new dvd? maybe they dont want kids to blindfold themselves on purpose but still.....

so the americans still have the fuller version I think.

PS yes I do know that I know far too much about tmnt-but when youre a kid you kinda soak this stuff up-hehehe I can still recite all of the turtle power lyrics, although I shall never admit this to a living soul!

can anyone else remember seeing this blind folded scene on the other side of the dip? or remember any other scenes that might not have made it?
