Man I just can't pick. I guess STM was the best for its time, and SR is the best for today. That's the best I can do.

Definitely the original.
Superman II had better villains but too many things just didn't make sense.
  • The cellophane S-Shield
  • Zod and co. being able to point at objects and levitate them
  • Superman and the villains going invisible in the Fortress
  • Superman's line "We used to play this game at school." On Krypton? That blew up.

None of the above.
My favourite Superman film is Superman and the Mole Men from 1951.

i vote for S:TM as best of all time still today...
then S:2...
then S:R...
then S:3...
then S:4...

and i take the cellophane S-shields as an example of kryptonian technology...

the levitation part as maybe powers they would be able to have, even Supes, but never developed...

the power of being able to vanish in the FOS...another display of kryptonian technology using the crystals...

the line..."we used to"...is really the one thing that is waayyy out of line, taken that we all know that Supes was sent from Krypton before exploding, thus never having the chance to go to school there...

Easily Superman: The Movie, though it had an ending that both makes zero sense or works. Superman II was good, but not great. Same with Superman Returns. I have many problems with those two movies. Superman III and Superman IV were just awful.

Superman 2 is the best in my opinion.
but Superman Returns is really great too.
but then again Superman 1, 2, and Superman Returns are all on par with greatness. just as Bryan Singer had planned.

i even like Superman 3 as well, actually. but i hated Superman 4. so awful.

Superman 4 was cute. SR and STM were better, but if I don't vote for it who will?

Well I cant put in a vote because Superman the movie and superman 2 are Still my favorite comicbook movies of all time and I like them both equally as much as the other.I am sure others feel the same way so you should have been in a option of BOTH Superman the movie and superman 2.

You're entitled to your own opinion and all. It's cool with me. But SR worse than 3 and 4? I'll never understand that.

Mine's a tossup between The Movie and Returns. Overall I'd say I love The Movie more, but Returns fixes some things that The Movie got wrong.

3 & 4 didnt have a hero that left for five years or a stupid kid. They may not be good movies but they are good superman movies because they capture the true spirit of superman. Singerman did not!

Superman has "left" for extended periods of time before in the comics. Multiple times, in fact.

And there's now a kid in the comics.

Are you sure this "true spirit of Superman" of yours actually exists?

I'm certain it does.

Would you care to discuss the circumstances of Superman leaving Earth in the comics? I contend that it is not simply leaving, but how he leaves. What does he tell his friends and family?

That new kid in the comics is not SUperman's. I don't even think he will turn out to really be Kryptonian. It's all too easy a set up. I feel the same with Batman's kid over in his title. The twist usually doesn't come in the firs issue of the story arc.

Superman Returns.

For me, it was very much in the same style of STM or SII, but lacking most of the camp and illogicalities those early films suffered from.

agree with your "camp" comment. but certainly not your illogicalities comment.
thats why SR was so dissapointing to me. that and piano boy.
its filled with silly plot devices that are illogical and contradictory to the film itself.
clark being away for 5 years and being able to instantly get his old job back.
lexs bone headed land plot. there is no logic to that scheme. an ugly kryptonite island that destroys half the usa, the ultimate terrorist act
aand lex thinks that people will buy it off him???
the 2nd reason that lex made the island was because supes would be helpless to stop him as he is powerless on it. yeah right. so powerless that he was able to actually lift this entire kryptonite island into space with a pure kryptonite shard in him......???yeah. real logical that is. and a total contradiction as he was helpless on that same island only moments before....
and the fact that superman lifting this massive island out of the ocean wouldve caused the mother of all tidal waves which wouldve washed metropolis away.....
i see plenty of illogicalities.
some people can overlook these. some cant. doesnt mean they are not there.

the film was a reimagining of the 1st movie with a child thrown in.
[bryan singers homage to his own adoption i would say].
my god. singer thinks he is supermans son.......
stay away singer. u had your chance. superman needs a director who understands the character and remains faithfull to him.

Let me put it this way, Superman never spun the world around to turn back time in SR. That's not an illogicality, that's an impossibility.
