Who cares if he's telling the truth or not. Penn and Hoffman aren't going to be in this movie anyway.

Well who cares, Joker is cast. And about Hoffman.....He might not want to be in another summer movie like this, even if it's directed by Nolan.

did anyone really think Nolan was going to confirm the Hoffman or Phillippe information? of course he was going to say it's all rumors, regardless of whether or not it's true.
it's too bad Hoffman declined. but remember, Cooper declined Gordon and we got the amazing Gary Oldman. hopefully choice number 2 is just as strong ... Hoskins damnit! |

So no Hoffman....guess I'm leaning towards Paul Giamatti especially after seeing the illusionist yesterday. He really is a terrific actor and I could see him making Penguin his own.

If Sean Penn had been cast as the Joker, I wouldn't have seen this movie.

Hoskins for Cobblepot.
Never really cared for the idea of Penn as The Joker.

Penn would never do a comic-book movie, anyway.

Both guys are history so why all the fuss and its not like Nolan changed his mind to want them taking part in this sequel.

Penn is a good actor (he was splendid in MYSTIC RIVER) but just not right for The Joker, besides being too much of a big name (however one can say that Ledger, thanks to BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN, is just as big of an actor or bigger).
As for Hoffman, that might be eschewed as a loss. In my opinion he's perfectly suited for The Penguin but I wouldn't mind seeing Bob Hoskins in the role either. |

The news of Hoffman apparently passing on the Penguin role is quite unfortunate, as other have stated he would of been very suited to the part.
However I don't really see the role possibly going to Hoskins, I have a feeling we may see another 'Gary Oldman' situation... |

I found it amazing that suddenly people wanna discredit the site cause they cant believe the rumour. If it was speculated it was speculated, if it was considered, it was considered no big deal....
Hoffman and Penn would have been good picks but it's all good |
