Default Who thought SM2 was Overrated?

SM2 was very good in terms of screenplay and acting.

But the action and CGI in my view was not too good. Doc Ock looked very fake on some of his CGI scenes.

Am I the only one?

I've rewatched it recently and yes, I agree it didn't hold up as well as I would have liked. It's still very good, but the MJ scenes drag the movie down for me. Kirsten Dunst just can't act. Also, after seeing how many convenient coincidences there are in SM3, I realize there are just as many in SM2.

Screenplay and acting was very good. I agree with you on that. I love the Spiderman OCK battles. They are much more brutal than I remember.

I don't think it's overrated. I think it's an excellent superhero film. My only disappointment is how short the final confrontation between Spidey and Ock is in the end. Had it been a bit longer this movie would be 100%.

I do think it's overrated but precisely because I find the screenplay questionable.

definately overrated. i cant believe people still think it is even the second best superhero movie after this summer. i could have cared less about iron man when it was coming out and i thought it was great. a lot better than any of the spider-man movies. also the dark knight is well...the best.

Extremely over-rated i'd say!

Script was questionable

Acting was average,

And it was too Dependant in it's CGI moments.

Samecan be said for the X-men but the Spiderman trilogy was much better than the X-men trilogy.

This movie was vastly overrated and i prefered number 3 over it but number 1 was the best.

  • MJ sucks, she was a complete ***** in this one. "Petah, you bwoke youh pwomis and didn't see my show. JERK". Then she treats him like a rag (he did state it clearly he went to her play) and broke her promise to marry John. Worst MJ in the trilogy
  • The fights are cool to watch, but Ock should fall down after one punch
  • Peter should be a cripple if they wanted to keep it that way, or remain powerless until the end of the movie, he was stressing it all the time. The power loss plot is ridiculous
  • Ditkovic sucks in this one
  • Harry ended on "Hmm, dad almost killed me and killed MJ like he killed everyone on the balcony that festival. F*** Peter, I will forget my intentions for not wanting to kill my friend and enjoy watching this and plan to extract vengeance like being the guy who almost killed me"
  • Peter is way too goofy, too dorky and a pushover, even compared to the other two movies
Best Spider-Man movie

I agree, at least to some extent
I do think SM2 is overrated, and rank them in this order
SM1 > SM3 > SM2

Yeah.I mean in SM 3 she had a legitimate beef with Peter.(Y'know, giving their "special" kiss to another girl in front of 500 people) In 2 they weren't even dating and she acted like she could have absolutely NO respect for him if he didn't come to see the stupid show.

It is hard to deny the reasons why Harry is so supportive of his father's memory are shaky at best.Once he knew Norman was the Goblin,he had to question Norman's sanity in the face of all the people he killed.

I actually thought the first movie was overrated by a long shot. The second movie was by far and wide the superior of the trilogy.

Spider-man 2 is pure, cinematic bliss. Had they left Raimi to do what he does best i'm sure the 3rd film would of held up next to it. Unfortunately they're were too many cooks in the kitchen thinking they know best

Exactly, the pressure of the studio and fans destroyed SM3. Everyone should have just backed off.

Spider-Man 2 deserves every ounce of praise that it gets.

Completely agree!!!! %100 Spiderman 2, for me really captured the essence of the comics. Ironically it also came out on my birthday. The movie just felt epic, it had that same intense feeling as the first one, but perfected it. Sam Ramni always had a certain feel to the Spider-man movies (at least 1 and 2), that made it feel for more mature audience, but it sstill had a campy feel to it which was very reminiscant of thhe 60's comics. Without Spiderman 2, I highly doubt The Dark Knight franchise would have ever existed. This is by far the best Spiderman movie to date. I have very high expectations for TASM 2, I loved the first one.

Imo, it brought, at the time, unparalleled violence to a super hero, that previously not been used (with maybe the exception of the original Batman), in terms of the realism of the fights. Spiderman suit actually got messed up, and blood was loss. Secondly it was one of the first Super hero movies to show how the hero's powers were affecting everybody else and his surroundings, in a not so positive way. Lastly, it really gave you a sense of the guy behind the mask, and the realism of the depth of the protagonist as his regular identity during the train fight. Spiderman 2 is one of the best superhero movie of all times, unlike a lot of super hero flicks, it manages to capture the essence of the human side, which intern leaves it to be more realistic.
