That article doesn't mention Daniel Craig at all, and just because it's using the name Goldeneye doesn't mean it's a remake.
We all remember Goldeneye: Rogue Agent.

Eh, not thanks.
If they really wanted to rejuvenate the Bond shooter games starring Craig, the should just make a Goldeneye type game, but make it original like Brosnan's 'Everything or Nothing' And kinda a wishlist for me is in multiplayer, let us be able to play as all the Bond actors and let there be as many characters as there were in Goldeneye 64(with the cheats) except make them all actual Bond characters.

I say make a James Bond anthology game where you play through the game and each level is a different Bond novel/movie, and the Bond looks like the actor that played him in that stint.

Jeezus..
You. cannot. remake. a. classic. Goldeneye was without a doubt the best movie tie in video game to ever be released. Rather than try a feckin remake or take a lend of the Goldeneye name or whatever they are doing I can't even be arsed to read it all, they should wait until the next film is due out & make that game in a first person shooter/Goldeneye format.. |

Eh, frankly I'm not seeing the big deal yet. The trailer looks good, looks to add a fresh feel to the original while still keeping that sense of nostalgia.
I don't like most remakes either, but this looks to be in the same vein of the Perfect Dark XBLA upgrade port and that turned out beautifully. |

I'm a huge Bond fan so naturally I've read a lot into this announcement and I feel I should clarify something:
This is NOT going to be a shot for shot, level for level remake of "GoldenEye 64". Yes, it will use classic elements from the original game/movie, such as the tank rampage through St. Petersburg and the bungee dive that opened the film, but the story is entirely new, written by none other than Bruce Feirstein, who wrote the script to the original film. It seems like it is an attempt to bring some of the basic elements of "GoldenEye" into the grittier, more hardcore Craig-Bond universe, which is fine by me. Hell, maybe they'll find a way to make Trevalyan a member of Quantum. ![]() Would I prefer a brand new Bond game starring Craig to this? Of course. But it still sounds pretty fun and I'll definitely give it a chance when it's released in November. |

Stop moaning, its gonna be a while before we see Craig in a live action Bond movie. This is good enough for me.
I still have the original for the N64,and its one of my favourite games ever. This looks good and all (I hope its better than QOS, though I liked it), but it cant beat the original, nothing can. It was unique in every aspect, and nothing can replicate it. I still pray that one day Roger Moore will star in his own Bond game, unless Craig does it for him, lol.

I love Craig and he's my favourite Bond after King Connery but I think it's a piss take that they're making a Goldeneye game with the likeness and voice of Craig. It's completely unnecessary. Imagine if the FRWL game was released with the voice and likeness of Brosnan...there would most definitely be blood in the water and the sharks and piranhas will converge in seconds.

I guess.
But, that's from a storytelling standpoint for the movie...which was ****ing awesome. The game I remember playing, had none of that. I guess it depends on how the story plays out in the game, but conceptually it is interesting to see a remake of a movie into a game with the new 007. I think throwing Brosnan into a FRWL remake would be interesting to see. Not better, but it'd be interesting. |

This game sounds like a desperate cash grab just like Rogue Agent. It's not an actual remake of the original game, it's only a new adaptation of the original film. The ONLY reason game publishers are fixated on Goldeneye is because it had a hugely successful game based on it. As a Bond film it was decent but there are better. It's a textbook case of adaptation displacement, because when people talk fondly of Goldeneye it's almost always because of the game moreso than the movie. The movie license was NOT what made the game good though, so unless they've got the classic Goldeneye gameplay down there is no point in making a new Goldeneye game. Out of Bond's entire film library, there's no reason why Goldeneye needs to have 3 separate video games based on it.

Even so,I find the game an actual effort...if only Sean Bean was back(sigh)
But every reviewer so far said it plays and feels as close as it can get to the N64. Thats important. So in November, I propose an online Multiplayer challenge? Dibs on Oddjob.
