Based on the first novel in the five-book Caster Chronicles series, Beautiful Creatures will be written and directed by Richard LaGravenese (Living Out Loud, Freedom Writers, P.S. I Love You). The coming of age story will start shooting in April in New Orleans. Jack O'Connell will play Ethan, Alice Englert will play Lena Duchannes. In the first book, Ethan meets and "becomes bewitched" by Lena Duchannes, a 16-year-old whose family has moved to his small South Carolina town. The two must confront a curse that's haunted her family for generations as she comes to grips with her powers. "Beautiful Creatures is a delicious southern Gothic that charms you from the first page, drawing you into a dark world of magic and mystery."

In an absolutely stupid move, WB moved Beautiful Creatures back a day. It will open on Valentine's Day against Die Hard 5 and Safe Haven.

Talk about market saturation and a big frontloaded opening day. The Vow opened five days prior to Valentine's Day last year, and did terrific business a couple of days before.

Too bad she is again in a terrible looking movie. Oh well.

I thought she was a good singer but nothing special as an actress until I watched Shameless. Now I find myself seriously wondering why she isn't a huge star. Then I see things like the trailer for this movie and go, "Oh." That's why. She needs a better agent or something.

Well, she has to eat and pay her bills like everyone else. I do think her agent is the problem... if she went for a movie that earned her an Oscar nomination, she'd be fielding much better offers like Anne Hathaway is now.

She looks like the standout here in this movie.

I think that Rossum is very talented and hopefully she will have a second wind like Hathaway had last year but her acting doesn't look good in this film. It looks hammy and not in the good way.

Saw this last night, and I was pleasantly surprised. It's badass, and hell even the love angle was tolerable. Jeremy Irons brings his A-game, Emma Thompson rocks her dual roles. Even the kids old their own.

Finally, a "date movie" that has enough badassery for the guys.

I thought it was really terrible. But the acting was much better than Twilight. Thankfully it bombed at the box office
