Just watched this movie again and still love it! Unlike the first Batman film, thisholds up very well. Catwoman made it for me. What I didnt like about Batman was how cringeworthy and cheesy it could be. I loved and appreciated the more mature and dark town that its sequel took. Overall great film and still remains my favorite

One thing I didnt get though was when the Ice Princess fell off the building, why the heck did Batman just stand there and do nothing? Why didnt he jump after her and/or use his gadgets to save her? Him not reacting at all came across dumb

I have a love-hate thing with this film. It really depends on when I watch it. Sometimes, if I'm in the right mindset, I really enjoy the atmosphere, how strange it is, the craziness...but like tonight, when I rewatched it, all I saw was how cringe worthy some of the ideas were, how Batman was a side-character in his own film, and, most importantly, how weird it all was. It felt like things happened because it looked cool. It didn't really feel like a movie, but rather was a little...sloppy.

I had not watched it for a while but it was on ITV2 last night so I watched it. Being someone who always loved BR, it was weird, this time it did not really do it for me. I turned it off with half an hour to go and just went to bed. Batman 89 having been on the week prior, I watched that and it was still great.

I'd never really noticed it before but Batman IS actually just a side character in this film. It's all about the Cat and the Bird. And what is up with Wayne Manor? 1) that is not the building from the first film and 2) it looks like a model.

Another thing that always bugged me about BR is that you can tell it was shot entirely on sets;- the narrow-ness of the streets and how Bats only ever drives 10mph through em, when the Bat and the Cat are scrappin on the rooftops, you can tell the buildings in the background are not real. You can really see the difference without Anton Furst and any location shoots.

I love the weirdness of it and Michelle and DeVito are awesome, but when I actually get past the initial nerdgasm of seeing Keaton in a new Batsuit driving the Burtonmobile, well, the film leaves a lot to be desired and imo is nowhere near as good as the first one.

“We knew we wanted it to be black and sexy and tight and shiny. Latex is as black and sexy and tight as you can get. When Bob Ringwood and I first designed the costume, it was for another actress. She had to drop out and Michelle came in, at the last minute. Michelle moves beautifully, and she was just a perfect fit for that costume. Because you can see everything – and the latex makes it look very fluid, and Michelle just has a beautiful, fluid way of working – she’s very athletic, so she gave it a modern look. It was difficult to wear – we had to cover Michelle with baby powder before she got into the suit. We made a body cast of her, and the costume was made on the body cast. We were afraid that it would rip, because she had these cat claws, and because it’s latex, once it ripped it’s over, you can’t repair it. So we had to make about 40 cat-suits, but actually it never ripped, it was very strong.

Tim Burton came up with the idea for the stitches. He had this vision of the calico cat – with its stitches starting to come apart. Bob Ringwood and I were like, stitches? On latex? How do we do that? So we sculpted stitches in cast and glued them on. It looked terrible! So we decided to brush her in silicon, this thick liquid. After she had the costume on, we painted the silicon on her with big sponge brushes. So she’s dripping all over the place. But silicon, because it’s so shiny, when it was lit all you saw was the shine. And since she was moving around at night, it looked really fluid. That costume is all about the light – and of course, all about Michelle. At the end of the day, you’re helping the actor create the character. Whether they come from another planet or down the block, if it’s cavemen or contemporary, you have to go with what the actor’s personality is, they have to feel comfortable.”
