This is a minor thing, but which do you think they'll refer to him as? Which do you prefer?
In TDK trilogy they always refer to Bats as "The Batman", like it's not a name, but a description (does Gordon or anyone else ever even ddress him as "Batman" when talking to him?) They do this in Iron Man as well ("The Iron Man suit") Do you think that worked in TDK trilogy? Do you think it would work for Superman? What about Wonder Woman vs The Wonder Woman? |

I'd have to watch Nolan's trilogy and keep a score card for how many refer to it as The Batman but in a sense calling him "The Batman" just reinforces the image of fear and urban myth that Nolan tries to create in the films, instead of thinking him as a person the criminals think of him as a thing.
That doesn't work with Superman since he doesn't seclude himself and helps Metropolis law enforcement.

They'll call him The Blur to keep things realistic.

..........I'm gonna kick you
Just "Superman" please, I can see some early on headlines calling him "The Super-Man" like his first appearances, but towards the end, just "Superman" |

that's a good question. I think Lois will name him "Superman" in her news article (assuming she names him in this movie)

I can also see her not directly naming him Superman but using the word to describe him. for example, a headline like "A Superman Among Us??" or "A Superman Saves Metropolis." the description "Superman" sticks and pretty soon becomes his name.

If they do call him "The Superman" it'll be before they learn to trust him, then it'll be Superman as normal. I imagine people who don't trust him all the way through (the military) may just call him 'the alien', but that is straight up conjecture.
As for The Dark Knight Trilogy, they called him The Batman a lot, but just 'Batman' got in their a few times as well. Obviously, in BB with Falcone "I'm Batman", at the end with Rachael "Batman's just a symbol..." Gordon Jr at the end of TDK yells out 'Batman!' The kid at the end of TDKR (when The Bat blasts a building to clear the path) yells "It's Batman!" There's more, but it's hard to remember... |

The Superman doesn't really work like the Batman does. The Batman to me has always sort if been an urban myth, some people aren't sure if he even exists so it adds to that. Superman is constantly appearing in the Daily Planet and even addressing the world in occasions so its more like his name.

I like the idea of 'The Superman' being used to describe him initially, then that evolving naturally into the Superman name. When his appearances first start to make news around Earth, people won't initially know his background so have no reason to suspect he's actually an alien - he looks like us, talks like us, but just happens to have superpowers. So 'The Super man' makes perfect sense.

I wouldnt be surprised if they dont even use that name for the majority of the movie. I'd imagine Kal-El is gonna be used more.

Batman was referred to as "The Batman" in the comics. I always took it as an homage.

There seems to be a lot of aliens in the movie.

Joker, Gordon's son and the kids at the home call him Batman. So I guess people who don't fear him call him Batman. I don't think see them calling Superman, the Superman. It will be Superman by the Daily Planet, the alien (or the first alien) by the government, and Kal-El by Zod.

The Batman also sounds more mythical/urban legend
