Default Batman & Robin Reboot

Forget about Joel Schumacher for a minute. Who would like to see a future trilogy based on Batman and his sidekicks? I had a few ideas about how they could do them serious justice on screen and was curious how others might go about it.

Sometime after the Justice League film, starting in lets say... 2018.

Batman and Robin: We see Batman take out some small time crooks. He's in his early 30s. Something happens to him that makes him realize working alone is dangerous. Alfred probably rubs it in. He is then invited to the Flying Graysons show where we all know what happens. A villain like Black Mask is involved. Bruce Wayne adopts young Dick Grayson (14-16). Batman teaches Robin how to fight crime, deal with his anger and eventually overcome his desire for vengeance. Robin's suit would ideally be something like Teen Titans or Young Justice.

Batman and Robin 2: Dick is now aged 18-22 and having differences of opinions with Bruce/Batman. He leaves and becomes Nightwing. Batman knows Nightwing is ready to fight crime solo but refuses to admit it. The Joker returns (for the first time on screen since 2008?) and wreaks havoc in Gotham. Batman takes on a new hot-headed apprentice in Jason Todd (also a teen). He doesn't feel that Jason is ready but needs his help. The movie ends with Jason's apparent death and Batman's doubt in taking on apprentices any longer. Jason's suit is Robin inspired, but more street (sort of like Arkham City?) with a green hoodie and red body armor.

Batman and Robin 3: Another year or two passes. Something like Under the Red Hood where Jason Todd returns angry and vengeful. But we also see Tim Drake as more of a Red Robin type character, obviously inspired by Batman's previous proteges, working independently but helping out despite Batman's orders. Red Hood is the main antagonist. He develops connections that somehow prove to be a challenge for Batman, Nightwing and Red Robin. Whether we see Ra's or Joker in this one is up to the writers.

If they just took it slow with these ones and focused on each robin individually in each film we might see some really cool stuff. Probably save Batgirl/Oracle and Damian Wayne for future sequels. If at all.

I want to see this simply because Nolan missed a critical part of Bruce Wayne's tragic character building. The whole reason he adopted Dick was he saw himself happen all over again with him being orphaned. Dick did not have a caretaker though so the only way he knew how to help was take him in. BTAS touched briefly on Dick's later resentment of Bruce making him just like him, which would play out incredibly on film.

Thank you. I agree. I would definitely like to see Robin in a future Batman film. The character is very underrated, in my opinion.

I really want the first film to be Dick Grayson's origin. It just feels right. Honestly, I would have 5 or 6 films.

1st Film: Dick Grayson's origin.

2nd Film: Dick's final adventure; leaves to become Nightwing. Batgirl (?) is introduced.

3rd Film: Bruce takes in a child on the streets, Jason Todd; A Death In The Family adapted.

4th Film: First solo film. Very dark Batman; Tim Drake makes an appearance (not Robin yet).

5th Film: Tim Drake finally becomes Robin. Maybe adapt Under The Red Hood or save it for the 6th film; Barbra becomes the Oracle.

6th Film: Under The Red Hood

Well obviously anytime we can see more than a trilogy with these movies I'm on board. But my examples are purely a three movie deal. And I feel that they would work pretty well. They would show a Batman whose philosophies and examples inspire others to not only stand up for what's right but work together to bring down evil in Gotham. As well as the trials that go along with something like that.

You know what, I have never ever been a fan of Robin. I think he mostly ruins the Batman concept. But I'd be able to accept a Batman & Robin franchise at this point if only to distance the new take from Burton and Nolan.

Right. It certainly would. It goes into a realm of Batman that is more comic book inspired I believe. And done with a similar tone to Nolan and/or Burton (as opposed to Schumacher) it could be really cool. Especially considering delving into each individual Robin would inevitably allow for on screen adaptations of The Flying Graysons, Death of the Family, and Under the Red Hood. Each of which is deserving of respectful portrayals imo.

I'd LOVE to see a series that begins with the Bat-Family, all they need to do is establish that they exist in World's Finest/Public Enemies/Superman vs Batman and we're off.

Personally, I'd have the first film be based off Jason's return in Under the Hood and the titles it spun off into. The reasons for this would be:

1- Straight off the bat we incorporate the one thing that has been sorely missing in every "other media" adaptation of Batman, and that is his large family.

2- Nightwing is established and ready for his own spin-off, as is Jason, and Tim for any potential Teen Titans.

3- As much as Dick may be the quintessential Robin, the role of Robin has not defined him as much as Nightwing has, he should be introduced in the role that is truly his, which is Robin, while his own film would deal with the Robin/Nightwing transition.

From there, I'd love to see films that deal with Bruce as the kind of King Arthur he is, it would be great to see another No Man's Land epic bat-film with a fully fledged Bat-Fam.

Stop posting that. It's not true, he doesn't look the part, nobody wants to see him, there are no rumours, not even the widely disregarded CBN, but only a place with user submitted "news". It's probably you, now stop spamming.
