Unpopular as the sequence is, i loved the crane sequence in ASM.

It was corny but also pure CBM heroism with Spidey pushing himself when wounded

That sequence, the part with the kid inside the falling/burning car, and Emma Stone's Gwen were my favorite things about the otherwise less than spectacular movie.

Next to the bridge equivalent scene in SM1 it was brilliant.

The bridge scene from SM1 > the crane scene from TASM1

I don't get how the bridge scene was better. I prefered the construction worker helping Spidey swing than a bunch of New Yorkers yelling and throwing stuff at GG.

He could've made it to Oscorp by weblinging... After the canali device had been used and the villain won.

He was injured, had a loss of co-ordination and was in pain, it would've taken him too long to get there alone. The Construction worker saw that on the news broadcast. He set up the cranes to allow Spidey a straight line to Oscorp so all he had to do was swing in a straight line without as much effort.

I imagine stopping the bleeding helped later with fighting the lizard

Agreed. The "You mess with one of us you mess with all of us" line was cringworthy

The part with him and the kid inside the car was really the one thing about the movie I loved. Such an old fashioned hero moment.

V for Vendetta and Dredd are better (more enjoyable) than TDK

Really, the only thing TASM has over SM1 is Garfield makes for a better Spider-Man (though Tobey was the better Peter Parker), and that Gwen/Peter was much better chemistry than Peter/MJ, and even then that was a semblance of one of my real life relationships, as crappy as it was written.

I loved it. It was corny, but worked IMO.

I thought TASM had almost everything over SM1. At times, TASM had some choppy moments (such as the way Ben was killed and the train sequence felt awkward) but it was more empotional with far better character development. Also, I preferred that Peter took time to become Spider-Man. It wasn't just a quick thing like it was in the first spidey film (that's not a criticism of sm1 there, just a preference)

Besides the special effects and witty dialoge, nothing about thr Avengers is all that great. It's good, but in no way anything more than that.

The only good scenes in ASM were those with Rhys Ifans. I would have said Martin Sheen, but he was criminally underused as Uncle Ben.

I disagree in fact I felt the best scenes were with Peter and Gwen. I also think we got more Uncle Ben in this film than in any Spidey film.

I can barely think - other than the telling of the traditional origin - of one single aspect Raimi's SM1 did better than TASM.

That's always stated in posts where no reason is given whatsoever.

Heh, I'm not trying to turn this into a Raimi trilogy vs Reboot thread but the suit for starters, the spider-sense for seconds, and a plot that is stuck with for the whole of the movie for thirds.

I don't like any of the Raimi Spider-man movies myself and feel that TASM is a huge improvement. Not perfect, but an improvement. Only thing I really liked from the Raimi trilogy was Simmons as Jameson.

I like ASM as well by the way, but I just had a hard time enjoying it like I wanted to. I have a feeling I'll like ASM 2 more than the first. I'm surprised the official title is Amazing Spider-Man 2 by the way, what the heck?

Probably so that they can keep "Spectacular", "Sensational", etc... for later reboots.
