Default Avengers: Orchestra Assemble! Composer Thread

Didn't see a score thread. Decided this needed fixing.

It hasn't been stated whether or not Alan Silvestri will be returning to score Avengers: Age of Ultron, and there are rumors floating around that Brian Tyler will be filling his place. Has there been any news on this?

Who would be your pick to score Avengers 2? What would you want out of the score to this movie?

Giacchino would do a great job, in his short few years scoring movies (less than a decade so far) he's joined the leagues of Williams, Goldsmith, Silvestri, and Horner. I'm rooting for Silvestri to return because I really enjoyed what he did the first time around, and would like some continuity. The guy's music just sounds like a Jack Kirby comic to me. I also think now that The Avengers are an established entity, he could expand on the thematic work he established the first time around and try some new stuff.

But if neither of them could do the job? David Newman. A ridiculously overlooked composer, who knows his way around a hero theme and can be absurdly inventive with his instrumentation under the right director. He also has experience working with Joss, having given him the best score of his whole career for Serenity.

Take a listen to his score from The Phantom:

I bet its Brian Tyler. Big scale action scores are right down his alley and it looks like he's become Marvels go to guy. I loved his IM3 score and i'm very intrigued with what he's going to do with Thor.

I'm hoping that the sound of the score is kinda " techno-thriller" or something along those lines. Not just straight up super hero. Given that the villain is technology based, I'm hoping some of that feel is incorporated into the soundtrack. For the ultron scenes at least

If Alan Silvestri cant come back than definitely Brian Tyler, his Iron Man 3 score was amazing!

Giacchino. He's easily the best of the contemporary composers and one that can adept his style to fit the movie as well as bringing scores from other composers to a higher note.

I want Silvestri to come back, but would be more than happy if Tyler was brought in to replace him.

A FSM user says Brian Tyler will score Avengers: Age of Ultron for Disney/Marvel Studios.

http://filmscoremonthly.com/board/po...ID=1&archive=0

It hasn't been confirmed yet, but Tyler has definitely been 2-2 with Silvestri in the MCU score department. Tyler is a great composer, but I'm bummed that Silvestri won't be able to expand upon his themes from the first.

His scores for Iron Man 3 and TDW were great imo. He actually gave Iron Man and Thor their own themes which sounded awesome!!I never found the scores for the first two Iron Man films and the first Thor to be particularly memorable. This is great news. Can't wait to hear his take on the Avengers.

His Thor main theme is appropriately epic, but not memorable at all. I was hoping he would use and expand upon Sons of Odin. His Iron Man 3 stuff was pretty good though.

I'm glad Henry Jackman was smart enough to reuse Cap's theme from the first movie because it's on the verge of being iconic, and so is The Avengers' main theme. Which is why I wanted Silvestri back.

Eh, I'm indifferent to Tyler. I liked his Iron Man 3 score but the music for Thor: The Dark World was very forgettable. Then again, it was rushed. It's likely it'll be him but from that list I'd want Henry Jackman.

Great! The score for the first Avengers film was mediocore.

Now there's a great chance we'll hear Tyler's themes from Iron Man 3, Thor TDW, and maybe Cap in this.

Tyler's involvement is still just a rumor. According to the guy who spread it himself.

I really liked Silvestri's score. I hope the theme from the first one stays, but considering Brian Tyler didn't keep any of the original themes for the "Iron Man" and "Thor" films, I doubt he'd keep this theme. Though I do like his work.

I'd prefer Silvestri returned, myself. I liked the main theme, and the action cues accompanying the climatic 30 minutes are just exciting.

If Silvestri returns, great. If Tyler takes the gig, hope he uses Silvestri's themes well.

I should also clarify my comment above to say if Silverstri can't come back then Tyler is an amazing choice. His score for assassins creed 4: black flag is one of the best scores in video games or any media I've heard in a while

I have to stick with Silvestry, not that the others aren't any good because they're all great, it's only because Alan has the sound down.

To be fair, Iron Man 2 didn't stick with any of the themes from the first movie, so the series really didn't have a theme.

I'd be fine with Tyler getting the job as long as he keeps the film from the first movie; the theme has started to become iconic & it'd be a shame to replace it. Hell, I'd say the Avengers theme has easily become the most popular/recognizable theme from anything Marvel...well besides the 60s Spider-Man theme.

Silvestri will be the Guest of Honor at the Chattanooga International Film Music Festival late next month. I'll see if I can't go there and meet him. I'm sure he's going to get some Avengers-related questions at the Q&A.
