Thumbs up Like zombie movies? Read the new book "World War Z"

I just finished reading the new novel World War Z, by Max Brooks. It was quite simply fantastic.

Not really a horror novel in the traditional sense, the book is a collection of remembered "experiences" from dozens of people from different parts of the world after a worldwide zombie plague almost wipes out all of humanity. The early infections are examined and the mistakes made by various nations in handling the outbreak are graphically yet intelligently related. An amazingly detailed analysis of the effect of worldwide zombie war on the world's militaries, economies, and populations is given.

A great read for zombie fans, or really anyone with an interest in global catastrophe theory.

Just hardback right now. I got it for 30% off at Barnes & Noble - $18.00.

Brooks' earlier work, the somewhat more humorous Zombie Survival Guide, is out in paperback.

I will wait for the movie.

My fave Zombie movie is the original (I hate that I have to type th<t now ) Dawn of the Dead.

I shudder to think, what a novelization would be like.

"The dead people, incessant....pressing on towards our glossy haven. The Black guy started yelling at my boyfriend. I got pissed, but stopped to think, and deep down inside, I agreed with him.
So, a fat dead guy was waddling up the escalator.
Peter shot his ass straight in the head! w00t!

But now, what were we going to eat tonight?.....Spam?....no.....we must fight our way to the Hickory Farms!!!!"

lol

the author was on NPR the other day- it was hilarious because they were treating him as if he was a reporter- not a novelist (apparently he wrote a book preivous to this one which was about "preparing for the impending zombie apocalypse). The host, and even all the call-ins were pretending it had all really happened.

....actually after a few minutes it started to get kind of creepy.

EDIT: just found the link to the audio: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/s...toryId=6104111

So, I'm guessing you get fidgety around those greasy-haired little Japanese Girls that look up at you all askew, too...

Max Brooks, is infact Mel Brook's son.

I own the Zombie Survival Guide, and I have my copy of World War Z in the mail as we speak.
