They'll definately tweak it for the sequel, but you're not going to see the "Reeve Suit".

Previous post's Supes costume is pretty good but for two things:
* shield is a tad too big * weird crotch seam - prefer not to think about/look at that on Superman. |

we need something other than a Reeve suit clone... If we REALLY want Singer to get out of Donner's shadow, it has to start with the suit.

Just a bit.
Make the reds brighter and the S needs to be bigger. I liked how there was no S on the cape. I never saw the point of that. |

Regardless if anyone doesn't want a change, it's gonna happen. It happend with all 3 spiderman movies. I'm sure the suit will get a change but not a big one. I say take off the S on the belt and put it on the cape. Where it damn well should have been in the first movie.

eh, it's good, but I'm not feeling the shield size or the neckline... This reminds me too much of the Donner suit, and what we need to stay away from if we want to ge out of the Donner rehash.

a question from a Q&A with Mingenbach:
(3) As you created the costumes for the inhabitants of Metropolis in the film, I'd imagine you are the most qualified person to answer this question. Which colours will be in fashion this season in Metropolis? My favorite chic shades of brown, gray and beige. brown, grey, and beige?... that's horrible. hopefully in the sequel, there will be morevariances of color and light, like more reds, yellows, blues, oranges, more of a broad spectrum of color instead of such boring colors |

As a fan of just about any version of Superman, I'm hoping I won't get flamed for posting this here since these pix are relevant to the suit discussion. Change everyone's heads if that makes it less controversial... Stick BR's head on all five of the guys if you like... But I didn't make the design; please credit Wilde/ask Wilde re: any future manips. Quote:

Should they change the costume?
Just do what they did for the first two Spidey flicks: make subtle changes, maybe amp up the colors a little. And Routh's hair does not need to be coal-black. It's that perfect shade of chestnut brown where depending on what lights hits it, the color will look like it's either a soft black or a dark brown.

No, I disagree, The suit looks perfectly fine as it is now. Personally, I perfer the darker shade of red instead of the brighter, it's more appealing. Just my opinion.

They will no doubt change the costume for the sequel. Whether it be a small change like in Spidey 2 or a big change like in Batman Returns, is what we don't know.

Has there ever been a comic book movie where the suit has been exactly the same from sequel to sequel?
The only thing close I can think of is the original Chris Reeve films. But Reeve's muscular build flucuated from movie to movie (sometimes shot to shot) making the costume appear different throughout the series. Routh's build will likely be different when the go to film the sequel (factor in fans wanting a bigger Supes and just age in general) so at the very least we'll get a slightly tweaked suit. Also, the film wasn't a runaway success like WB had hoped and is likely listening to fan's complaints and critiques. But to answer the question of the thread 'should they change the costume'? Answer: Hell yes.
