He may have been first, but he's not THE Dr. Strange. Why waste movietime on a crappy 5th tier Batvillain. Let's see The Ventriloquist or someone.

Hey me to but I just know he'd never do it. He's already called it an absurd comic book role. Now take that pic of ole Bruce ya got there and compare it to Boothe. You'll see what I'm talkin about.

Well, the mass audience don't know Marvel's Strange either, so that argument can be dissmisable. Hugo Strange fits Nolan's world better than the Ventriloquist, that's for sure. |

More people know who Stephen Strange is than Hugo. Especially comic book movie audiences. Who just happen to be alot of the audience for Batman. Why waste the screentime on someone who's confusing and actually sorta bland? Batman's Rogue's Gallery is one of the deepest in Comicdom. There are plenty more villains to use that are much cooler.
And what's wrong with The Ventriloquist? Very "real world" if you ask me. Just some crazy guy with a dummy. Great story!!!

As for Strange being bland, read Batman:Prey, and Detective Comics #'s 471 & 472 or get the Strange Apparitions TPB. Nothing wrong with Ventriloquist, personally, but Strange is more layered, I think. |

He'd be fantastic and fabulous as older Bruce Wayne. He could play him as his "Million Dollar Baby" boxing coach, all crotchety, grumpy, and decrepit. I remember immediately when I saw "Batman Beyond" when it first aired I went, "Damn he looks like Clint Eastwood." And when talks came of a "Batman Beyond" movie I was all supportive and begging for Clint to take the role. Oh well... I know it'll probably never happen. Not for at least another 10-20 years due to Nolan's reboot. By then however villains like Inque and Blight would look so cool with the use of CGI. Here's still hope. |

^I agree about Eastwood, but if in fact the movie doesn't get made for another 10-20 years, I think he might be a lil to old, (even for old Bruce)
now, on the other hand Chris Noth (from early 90's Law and Order) whos in his 50's now, might be pretty cool, and will have aged well for the role in 10-20 year ![]() anywho, what this thread topic about again? oh ya, Hugo well, I kinda agree that a character named Strange, might come across as corny, as for the name being confused with marvel‘s "Dr. Strange" I don't see what the big deal is, anyway he's mostly referred to as "Hugo Strange" not just "Dr. Strange" though, if used in the movie, maybe they should change the last name, to something more realistic sounding, have "Strange" as a nickname, and have them more focus on "Hugo" for name association, to help identify him to fans (but, his looks and behavior should pretty much do that already) and to non fans, he well just be a new character to them anyway, so, they wouldn’t know difference just say |

Not that I want to see him in any Batman movie but if Hugo Stange was to be cast, look no further than Edward James Olmos:

Man he's just too much of an old Gordan for me. I would cast either him or Robert Duvall for TDR Gordan.

Get him a bald cap or get him to shave bald and he's Hugo Strange. And I don't see a new Gordon needing to be cast if they did a TDKR storyline. Since there's like 3 years between movies and I assume that storyline would be at the end of a string of them, then Oldman would definately be & look old enough to be "old Gordon".

William Hurt is a great actor and wouldn't hurt as Dr. Hugo Strange:

Thanks.
Yes, he's a great actor. And in that given picture (from the film "A History of Violence", directed by David Cronenberg) he even had the Abraham Lincoln's kind of beard that Dr. Hugo Strange also has. ![]()

Yeah man! Another good choice and yes he absolutety rocked in AHV. He and Ed Harris both played very different roles than I am accustomed to seeing them in and they both pulled off very convincing and amazing performances.

I would love to see that as well. He or Kevin Spacey. But because Spacey was Luthor, I guess he is out of consideration... And Robin Williams was great as a villain in that Nolan's film, Insomnia.
