Keep in mind that the main character is CUSTOMIZABLE and you STILL get that level of detail. Sweetness.

Oh, and the Problem with NEW threads is that you never get all the coolness back from the OLD ONE: stuff like THIS:

I think several of these pictures are from EARLIER in production, and you can see how much more advanced they've become. To be honest, if this doesn't make game of the year, the industry is BROKEN. I wouldn't be surprised if it makes game of the year two years in a row. Heh.

That said, I still long for less fluid five man teams over the change-anywhere 3-man teams... It just seems odd that only three people out of a party of say, eight or nine, can move together and take care of a situation. I think haing to take your non-combatants out with you and manage them during battle and not simply teleport in your big bruisers in their place at the drop of a hat would be an improvement to gameplay and immersion. but perhaps that's just me.

Every time I see that shadow on her upper lip, I think she's sporting a mustache.

I wish they would show other main character models than the one guy.

I almost cried when this was delayed.

Do you think they delayed it 'til September to avoid the annual summer drop in sales or because they really needed more time to work on the game?

Or perhaps a little of both?

Im sure you all will enjoy this news

Quote:
The Krogan are a species of large reptilian bipeds native to the planet Tuchanka, a world known for its harsh environments, scarce resources and overabundance of vicious predators. The Krogan managed to not only survive on their unforgiving homeworld, but actually thrived in the extreme conditions. Unfortunately, as Krogan society become more technologically advanced so did their weaponry.

Four thousand years ago, at the dawn of the Krogan nuclear age, battles to claim the small pockets of territory capable of sustaining life escalated into full scale global war. Weapons of mass destruction were unleashed, transforming Tuchanka into a radioactive wasteland. The Krogan themselves were reduced to primitive warring clans struggling to survive a nuclear winter of their own creation… a state that continued until they were discovered by the salarians two thousand years later.

Due to the brutality of their surroundings, natural selection has played a significant role in the evolution of the species. Krogan reproduce and mature at an astonishing rate. Their large shoulder humps store fluids and nutrients, enabling them to survive extended periods without food or water. Their thick hides are virtually impervious to cuts, scrapes or contusions, and they are highly resistant to toxins, radiation and extremes of both heat and cold.

Biotic individuals are rare, though those who do possess the talent are typically quite strong in their abilities. But their most amazing physiological features are the multiple instances of major organs; these secondary systems are capable of serving as back-ups in the event of damage to the primary biological structures. This redundancy makes them incredibly difficult to kill or incapacitate in normal combat scenarios.

Check back next Wednesday for more on the Krogan and their place in the Mass Effect universe.

Why would they release it the same month as Halo 3? That's almost asking for diminishing sales numbers.

They'll hopefully release it this year. Halo 2 launched about five weeks after Fable and both sold extremely well.

Microsoft launched "Shadowrun" and "Forza 2" on top of each other and... well, Shadowrun wasn't any good and Forza 2 was spectacular. So maybe that was an experiment.

I hope they'll release it this year, but not on top of, or nearly overlapping the Halo 3 launch. I think if they do that, that could possibly divert alot of the attention away from Mass Effect in favor of Halo 3.

I couldn't care less if Mass Effect is released on the same date as Halo, more chance of me finding a copy while everyone else is running around looking for Halo 2.5.

Oh come on, how can you call it "Halo 2.5?" Aside from being on a whole new system, the game has an entirely new campaign that promises will close the trilogy with the tagline "Finish The Fight". From the Beta alone, it's obvious that Bungie's taken some risks and the level theming looks better than anything I saw in Halo 2.

I'm not even going to describe exactly how much of an idiot you have to be to call Halo 3 that. I thought we grew out of this after the whole "Halo 1.5" **** 2 and a half years ago. Go back to not posting stupid, rehashed insults please.

So is the battle system still totally mailable? I'm kind of worried about that to be honest. FFXII suffered from having a battle system that was too open, being able to play totally in real time or turn based or anything in between sounds incredibly hard to balance.
