How will the overall layout of the RPG be?: This is an ongoing RPG similar to other RPGs on the hype, and the goal is to take the players through the story of the Street Fighter Alpha and Street Fighter II storylines, based on the manga, UDON comics, and the games themselves. There will be one head GM (myself) and two assistant GMs.

Premise of RPG, if it is a user created RPG see below for applicable additions to this Applicaton, (Must be a paragraph or longer).
The first world Street Fighter tournament has ended. A lone fighter from Japan, a man named Ryu, visciously defeated the Emperor of Muay Thai, Sagat, in the final round of the tournament. He then mysteriously vanished, becoming nothing more than a rumor whispered among other fighters. His partner and United States Martial Arts Champion, Ken Masters, grows bored with the day to day life of being the world's greatest fighter, seeing his opponents becoming less and less worthy of his fists. He longs for a true challenge, one he knows he will find in Ryu. Sagat, once-defeated, has dedicated his life to a single purpose: defeating Ryu and reclaiming his honor and title of greatest.

However, dark things move in the shadowy places of the world. INTERPOL, in an investigation led by special agent Chun Li, has discovered the existence of a massive international crime syndicate known only as Shadowlaw. Reaching into the highest levels of governments around the world and almost totally indestructible, Shadowlaw has almost total control of the underworld. They are led by a shadowy figure known only as M. Bison, a dark and charismatic individual. However, several mysterious envelopes have been sent out to great fighters from around the world, the winged skull symbol of Shadowlaw the only indication of the sender. Dozens of fighters from around the world are gathering...

And far to the East, masters Goutetsu and Gouken, the last surviving teachers of the Ansatsuken style, are brutally slain by a mysterious figure. The fighter has no name, mysterious powers based in evil, and a killing intent to his fists. What role he will play is yet to be seen...


What will this RPG bring to the RPG forums? (please write two complete sentences): This is the first video game-based RPG yet proposed, and I would like to bring a sense of high-powered action to this particular RPG.

Title Of The RPG You Would Like To Propose: Street Fighter: The World Warriors RPG

Example Of Characters Application: Due to the limits of the Street Fighter universe (there are only so many characters, after all), a list of the characters must first be posted, like so:

Ryu- Winner of the first tournament and world wanderer, seeking to become the perfect warrior
Ken- Hungry for a true challenge, the US Martial Arts champion seeks his old partner
Chun Li- Driven by the murder of her father, Chun Li hunts the elusive M. Bison and seeks to put an end to Shadowlaw
Charlie Nash- Lieutenant in the US Air Force, Charlie Nash has been investigating Shadowlaw for years, trying to free the military from the syndicate's corruption.
Guile- A young soldier in the USAF under Charlie Nash's tutelage. Already an accomplished street fighter, he still has much to learn from the older and more experienced Nash.
Sagat- Former Emperor of Muay Thai, now drawn into Shadowlaw's web. Through the use of the crime organization, Sagat intends to find Ryu and settle his old score. But can he reclaim his honor after the crimes he has committed as part of Shadowlaw?
Adon- ex-disciple of Sagat and member of Shadowlaw, Adon has torn a bloody swathe through the world's fighters in search of his old master, seeking to prove that the student has become the Emperor.
Birdie- Extremely powerful British gang lord. He doesn't look favorably on Shadowlaw horning into his turf, and after losing to Ryu in the first tournament, has started to learn what it means to be a true fighter.
Guy- Master of the ninja art of Bunshin, Guy has traveled the world in the wake of the destruction of the Mad Gear Gang. Driven by a feeling that the annihilation of Mad Gear in Metro City contributed to the rise of Shadowlaw, he has fought evil the world over and become a loved international vigilante.
Cody- The years after the fall of Mad Gear have not been kind to Cody Travers. He became drunk on the fight, and became such a problem that he had to be incaracerated after beating a man to death. Fighting out of boredom more than anything, Cody breaks out of prison to join the new tournament and find some direction to his life.
Sodom- A former lieutenant of Mad Gear, Japanophile Sodom follows his leader Rolento as the pair seeks to rebuild the Mad Gear gang.
Rolento- Former military leader of Mad Gear, Rolento travels the world in search of an army to lead, and a city to conquer.
Eagle- After failing to defeat Sagat in the first tournament, Eagle returned to his homeland of Britain and there gained a fearsome reputation as a bodyguard, enforcer, and bouncer. He has accepted an invitation to the newest tournament to hone his fighting skills and finally defeat the Emperor of Muay Thai.
Cammy- A genetically modified Doll Agent of Shadowlaw. Grafted with the cells of M. Bison, she is the most powerful of all the Dolls, and lead researchers feel that she will eventually gain free will. Bison himself holds no doubts that his Psycho Power will keep Cammy and the rest of the Dolls under his control.
Juli- A brainwashed Doll Agent of Shadowlaw
Juni- A brainwashed Doll Agent of Shadowlaw
Balrog- A former World Heavyweight Boxing Champion, Balrog's tendencies for illegal techniques has resulted in his suspension from the WBA after a killed a fellow boxer in the ring. On the run and without a home, the powerful fighter soon found it in the arms of Shadowlaw, and rose quickly through its ranks. Now he is the chief bodyguard and operative of M. Bison, and his loyalty is without question.
Vega- A perfect narcissist, Vega sees beauty only in himself. He is the greatest bullfighter in all of Spain, and some rumors abound that he is actually descended from royalty. His beauty is respected around the world, and in the bullfights, he always wears an ivory mask to prevent his face from being scarred. Unknown to many is that Vega is a secret operative of Shadowlaw and mastermind of most of their European operations.
Fei Long- the most famous Martial Artist in the world, Fei Long's name is known by all. What most don't know is that Fei Long is a powerful and skilled martial artist, besieged by letters claiming his skills are fake. He is hungry for a chance to prove his skills to the fighting world and finally break out of the shadow of Bruce Lee.
Thunder Hawk- A powerful Indian warrior, T. Hawk's sister, Noemblu, was kidnapped by Shadowlaw. He enters the tournament seeking only his sister.
E. Honda- the greatest Sumo wrestler in the world, E. Honda has grown board with his unending reign of dominance at the very top of the Sumo rankings. He needs a new challenge, and has set out to fight exhibition matches against the greatest martial arts masters in the world
Zangief- The strongest man in the world, Zangief is a living legend in the world of wrestling. He retired long ago and now fights and lives in the wilds of northern Russia. His body is scarred and beaten from fighting enormous Russian black bears. Rumors speak that he wwas even caught in a tornado, and that he not only survived but has perfected a new technique based on it.
Rainbow Mika- An up and coming wrestler in the Russian scene, Rainbow Mika is a lifelong fan of Zangief. Her wrestling skills, even at ths stage, are beyond belief but still she yearns to find and beat the greatest wrestler that ever lived.
Sakura Kasugano- Sakura is an average Japanese high school student, until one day she witnesses a street fight. A man, dressed only in a white karate gi and a red headband, annihilated a street gang that was about to pound on her. She only knows the man's name: Ryu. Since then, she has learned everything she can about him and imitates his style, hoping to one day find him and train under him.
Karin Kanzuki- A schoolmate of Sakura, Karin comes from a wealthy family and has trained under the finest and most expensive martial arts masters. She spars frequently with Sakura, and is frustrated that the girl will never quit despite several losses. Bored over the summer, she decides to join Sakura and find Ryu, if for nothing else than for something to do.

Bison and Akuma will be out of the RPG, initially. I'd prefer to keep the hidden, uber-powerful characters of the storyline, well, hidden. Dee Jay had no role in the Alpha storyline initially, but he will be added as an option later as the game progresses. Same for Rose, she'll be the, well, GMPC to introduce plot and events to other players.

As to Dan, I figure it's better for everyone involved if he stays as a supporting character for others to beat on. I mean, let's face it, his introduction was probably the high-point of his Street Fighting career...

I actually got pretty good with Dan on the old arcade game. He had his limitations, but he was a good character for SF vets.

If by "good" you mean, "Oh God please not the face, anything but the face," then I agree.

God, I can't wait for the new Super Street Fighter II Turbo with totally redone art by UDON. Xbox Live Arcade is the best.

Blanka and Dhalsim will get "unlocked" as the game progresses towards Street Fighter II's storyline. The reason characters like T. Hawk, Fei Long, and Cammy (three of the four new characters introduced in SSF2) is because they play a role in the Alpha Shadowlaw storyline, or provide setup for an eventual Street Fighter III story.

Also, M. Bison will remain unplayable by players until after the Alpha storyline resolves. I'm undecided as to if Akuma will ever become playable, as his in-storyline levels are fairly ludicrous.

Is Gen not available? I would understand not, since he is a powerful master assassin and all. But, is he dead yet? Was wondering if Yang and Yun were available then since he took care of them and trained them.

Gen will be unlocked shortly into the Alpha storyline, after Chun-Li tracks him down to hire him (an old friend of her father's) to kill M. Bison.

Also: Expect SF3 characters to become playable only near the end of the Street Fighter II storyline. They are free to be mentioned in passing before then, though keep in mind SF3 is about 8 years or so after the end of Street Fighter II.

Also, I thought you said the "continuity" followed the comics and such. I think it would have to be more specific as to what has and hasn't happened yet.

Also, I know about Yang and Yun not being introduced til SF3, but they were already kids in training by Gen before Gen died, so that would be before SF2. I was just wondering if it was possible to play them while in training, and have Gen as an NPC but only for training them or something since I cannot apply for Gen it seems.

Well, in Street Fighter volume 1, she sought out Gen for consultation and training, and really I believe the specifics would be up for whomever decided to play Chun-Li.

If you recall, in the original Alpha storyline Gen was much more malevolent than he's been made out to be in recent years. An aged assassin of supposedly peerless might, whiling away his days searching for the fight that would kill him before his disease did.

As to the comics storyline, the events in issues 1-3 of Street Fighter volume 1 and events from later issues which predate them (the end of the first Street Fighter tournament chief among them) are considered to have happened in the RPG continuity (so the Dolls are created, Shadowlaw exists, Gouken and Goutetsu have been murdered by Akuma). If players want a more specific timeline, I can work one up.

I doubt I'll jump in if it's started. I've been toying with the idea of joining the video game RPG if it gets started, but even that's up in the air.
I've got a lot of RPGs on my plate as is.

Yea, I think an RPG like this would be much harder. I'm a longtime fan, and have been playing SF since like 8 years old...but playing even my favorite characters like Ken would be difficult.

Hmm...well, I can't really give a 'word' on this RPG since it needs five commited players, first and foremost. But -as always- it's a very well thought out application and I think that maybe at another time when there wasn't such a 'boon' in RPG's it would work.

Since it's basically 'you' property now, if someone did come along with the same idea it would divert to your thread.
