Their are ads for CompUSA, all over this demo. Too bad its not going to be helping the company as they recently announced they are out of business

The motion controls in this are terrible compared to Motorstorm, but still better than using the sticks. You can tell that their driving physics model isn't nearly as advanced as Motorstorm just based off of the what the cars handle. After playing Motorostorm it felt almost like halfway between using an analogue stick and a D pad, there's no fine wheel control, at all, or suspension, not really.

The gameplay is solid, but a bit more basic than something like Motorstorm which has terrain types, multiple paths, and different classes of vehicles to race with.

Racing on the side of a Canyon > Racing in a city.

That being said, Motorstorm has a lot of work ahead of it for the sequel. They really need to work on making the entire game more accessible and balancing the gameplay experience. You basically have to memorize the tracks to play well online, though Burnout might not be any different with the really hardcore people memorizing secret shortcuts). Hopefully Motorstorm 2 totally redesigns and opens up the single player, and maybe even has free roaming setup like Burnout.

I don't see how Burnout Paradise is the king of destructive racing, knocking someone off a cliff side to their deaths seems was more visceral than crashing into a car on the freeway.

Or how about clotheslining a fellow Motor bicker and then having them get run over by a semi, with vehicles outright bursting into flames, wilst racing on the side of a plateau with an incredible vista and near endless drop into certain death waiting below. Yet again it's cooler and more exciting than racing in a generic city.

Motorstorm 2 is going to be incredible if they iron out the infrastructure of the single and multiplayer as well as the balance the single player and multiplayer maps and scenarios. The core gameplay is fantastic and a lot better than Burnout ever has been, that includes Burnout Paradise, by a mile.
Oh there's no denying Motorstorm is incredible Zen, probably still my favorite exclusive until I get Uncharted, but I never liked motion controls in either of these games. Motorstorm 2 will be amazing, but until then, this game's got the graphics, and the longevity over it.

Its such a shame MS didn't have split-screen. The single player mode kept a group of 4 friends entertained for hours, but we all agreed it needed split-screen, and felt a little deprived.

Great...but i wasn´t expecting any less from Criterion and the Burnout series.

My only problem is feeling that, without any real goadl to it, to can became old really fast.

My problem is the feeling of not getting the most out of it. You want to know the best routes for every event, but with such a huge area, and going so fast, its near impossible to do.

You should seriously try motion controls some more. I can get way better times and control with them than using an analogue stick. Just get used to using the buggies first, the bikes are the hardest.

D:

Anyway, they better smooth out everything that's not the racing in Motorstorm 2, because the game needs it, I don't see why they didn't just install the vehicle models onto the hard drive, or give you 2 D portraits of the cars, those load times are retardedness.

We should all like get online sometime and do a Burnout race.

You and Brainiac 8 never show up as online on my friends list. He's seeing if its a problem on his end, but I can't recall ever seeing you online, and I'm always on.

Hm that's weird, I never see you online, though it might be the Europe/Canada time difference that plays a role in that, I'm usually on like every second day.

I don't know. Lack of Aftertouch really hurt my feelings and I also didn't like Showtime as much as the classic Crashes.

For me Revenge was the series at its peak. That was Burnout at perfection.

Kinda agreed. I loved that game to death and played it on both PS2 and 360 seperately! That games was AWESOME.

Hopefully the final and full Burnout Paradise turns out better than the demo. It's an open world game so the full version may indeed be much more.

Burnout has Paradise City by Guns 'n Roses, Motorstorm doesn't.

Burnout wins.

Well, Burnout Paradise does take place in Paradise City and so it has to have that song. Plus, Burnout has always won and been the king.

I wish the crashes would go back to how they were in Burnout 2. The were a lot more visceral and fun to do. In the recent versions they are too stylized/slow/boring.

I love all forms of crash but I do hope that one day, they make a Burnout with all forms of crash available. The older B2 crashes, more modern B3 crash system and finally, Paradise's new semi-crash mode.

No, I meant the visuals that occur when your car crashes or you make another car crash. The graphics may be better, but the visuals suck in comparison to the crashes in Burnout 2. They got too obsessed with slow-mo and color changing and poor angles. It's just not as good as it was.

I see. I do agree that they've become to obsessed with color changing in Paradise and weird camera angles but they're not that bad. I love them both.

Burnout to get FREE DLC

http://news.filefront.com/free-downl...nout-paradise/

It was fairly expected that Burnout Paradise would be getting some downloadable content. What wasn’t expected is that this DLC might be 100% free. That’s right, a representative from Criterion Games has revealed that Burnout Paradise will be getting new areas in the form of downloadable islands for the low, low cost of nothing. That might be enough to breathe a little more life into the title, but we shall see. Still, I’m not going to argue with free stuff.

I was going through old mags and found a Burnout article from the Oct 2006 issue of OPM and look what I found. Its a map of Paradise City but with 3 noticeable chunks missing from the final game. 1 towards the bottom of the main section of PC in the center, another at the very bottom of the map and the last in an island on the right. Could these 3 areas be the DLC that Criterion is set to release?
