Nathan Fillion is not the perfect choice for Duke period. He is boring, Does not fit the look too, lanky come on he is a supporting actor nothing more the movie serenity was good because he had a great supporting cast.

Lanky? Does not fit the look? I don't even think you know who we're talking about. His personality in both Serenity and Slither reminded me of a couple of First Sergeants. He would have made a fine leader of the Joes.

Certainly more so than this Channing Tatum dude.

We've only seen him in possibly the worst (and most sappy, for that matter) scene of the film. I'm sure when he's adorned in full military garb you'll feel different. Or not. We'll see.

If you ever go to Annapolis, MD on a weekened, get ready for a laugh- the US Naval Academy is there, and when the cadets get out fo rthe weekend, you'd be amazed at how many of these guys are of the gawky, no-chinned, jug-eared type.

Most of those guys make Channing look like Steve McQueen.

Quick question, will Duke be in a relationship with Scarlett? The original comic book and cartoon differentiated on who she was in love with, and with Larry Hama on board the film I do suspect she will be with Snake-Eyes, but I just need some confirmation. Thanks.

I was just looking at Tatum's filmography, and appearently in the film "She's the Man" his character was also named Duke.

Based on the initial script reports, Duke is in a love triangle with Baroness and Rex (aka the future Cobra Commander played by Joseph Gordon Levitt). And Scarlett ends up hooking up with RIPCORD/Marlon Wayans. She likes Snake Eyes like a "big brother".

Maybe they've just made a typo and he's actually playing a character named Dukee...the Joe's main screw-up, who keeps having to be rescued by his team!

How hard is it to cast Duke? Is it that difficult to find an actor to fit a somewhat standard lead role - a blonde military-type... and they managed to get it wrong.

Not to nitpick, but a lot of these guys also go into the army and Marines- one midshipmen I knew told me that they had Army guys enrolled who had already served in Iraq.

Oh wow, that'd explain Miller with blonde hair. I knew all about Rex from the 2005 script, and I was wondering if he was still there, but having Baroness as another Joe traitor seems like overkill.

As for Scarlett, beats being married to Action Man and being killed by Cool Dude. I'd have thought marrying Duke and Snake-Eyes being a father figure would have been a good compromise between the comic and cartoon.
