Any ideas as to when Ramin Djawadi's score for this movie will be released?

Probably a few days before the movie itself hits theaters like most scores.

Well I am beginning to doubt there will be a score release for this movie, at least not in time for the release. Most all the other big summer movie scores are already up for pre-order on Amazon yet there is no sign of the IM score. I sure hope this doesn't turn into another Spider-man 3 situation!

^I'm unfamiliar with what happened with SM3 as far as score goes, other than the SM1 & SM2 songs were much better. But other than that didn't they basically all have the same score sans the rock songs?

I loved Spider-man 3's score. I hate that they aren't releasing the true soundtrack.

Track listing, CD art and an mp3 sample of score cue "Fireman" at the following link:
http://www.hans-zimmer.com/fr/disco_detail.php?id=783 The Djawadi score sound incredibly generic, like Batman Begins and POTC with electric guitars. But it sounds enjoyable despite my reservations. |

I like it. I'm sure others won't though.

Not bad. The beginning reminded me a bit of The Terminator, but then it went off on it's own direction...

The score sounds disappointing, to say the least. Another Zimmer/Remote Control generic crap score, but this time with electric guitars and drums!! YEAH!
Why didn't someone else far more capable get the job, like John Debney? |

That piece wasn't bad, but it was not distinct. I'm really hoping that IM will have an iconic theme or motif. I think I'll wait until after I've seen the movie before I consider buying this score.

Sounds really good! I don't think it sounds very generic, but UNLIKE the pirates or batman soundtrack, it doesn't sound like it's going to be very memorable. It's not catchy, and there's no real hook. But it does flow nicely. I was hoping for it to be a little darker/ erier, like 28 weeks later or something. That's just what I imagined in my head.

It sounds to me quite a bit like something out of a Nightwish song, but I love Nightwish, so I´m cool with that, the idea of mixing big orchestra sounds with heavy gitar and stuff. I can see influence of Hans Zimmer in the big drums, but also some typical Danny Elfman percussion... It can work I think.

Meh, this isn't that impressive. However, it's not the main theme.
I just really wish Bear McCreary could've done this score. He would've given everyone something they'd be happy with. Again, check out Black Market and Mandala in the Clouds from his Battlestar Galactica work. Take a listen to Black Market/Gina Escapes here: http://www.soundtrack.net/features/article/?id=195 And then take a listen to Storming New Caprica, Precipice, and especially Mandala in the Clouds here, aslo Someone to Trust (For a love theme) here: http://www.soundtrack.net/features/article/?id=243

On the other hand, I believe John Debney would have done a fantastic job. Too bad they didn't hire him.

What about John Ottman? I liked his music for X2 and Fantastic Four, as well as Superman Returns. He did a good job adapting William's music for Superman.

If he were still alive I'd have picked Basil Poledouris.

I just would have like to have heard a new voice for a superhero movie. Debney's never done one (by himself, at least, he had to re-write a couple sequences in Spider-Man 2 & 3), and his action/adventure music is amazing, to say the least. Powell is a great composer, but we already have X-Men 3 by him, and Ottman...like Elfman, has done enough in the superhero genre. Pouledoris, of course, would have been a great choice, RIP. I just want a new voice to score a superhero movie. And Djawadi is not what I had in mind.

I don't think Debney was available or they probably would have gone with him since he's worked with Fav before.
