Does the 60gb PS3's full backwards compatiablity compromise any of its other systems? ie graphic of bluray quality?
I was just wondering why Sony would have stopped making them. |

Sony stopped making them to initiate a price cut to get the PS3 into more homes.

Yeah, It doesn't compromise the graphics of the blu-ray player. I have that one and it's the ****.
So heres another stupid question.. I'm looking through a lot of the old Threads.. and I'm new to the games part of the forums.. I've stuck in the products boards for a few years now.. Why are there so many "Banned users" from the 2-3 year old threads?? did a war happen? Last edited by SsM; 04-18-2008 at 04:34 PM. |

Lol, nah I went away for 1 weekend and came back to half the game board banned and the game section threatened to close down. I saw a few segments of the argument that weren't deleted, nothing to worry about anymore tho since we got a good mod out of the deal, and all the drama seems to be gone. You just have to be careful not to mention "operation blue" or....hmmm what's this red dot on my forehead?.....

Hmm.. Interesting.. I remember hearing something from SpiderHulkThing about the games section being gone for a while or something but I only recently in the past 3-4 months have gotten back into gaming on a regular basis so I never really came to the forums.

As for the actual topic lol, no it's not a stupid question. Sony is making so many PS3 versions that I can understand it being confusing on which does what as each seems to have a capability or lack of one that another has.
The 60 GB has BC, and the emotion engine. I could be wrong but I believe the 80 GB is identical but has a slightly different CPU. Both are backwards compatible, and neither suffer in graphics or processing power. The 40GB was introduced in place of the 20GB that wasn't selling as the new cheap version. Since at that point only 20GB seperated the new 40 and 60, and it would still have been $100 difference they upped the 60GB to 80GB as the new higher priced model, and then removed backwards compatibility with PS2 from the 40GB model. So pretty much the 60GB = 80GB, no real difference. And the 20GB = 40GB. Pretty much the same machines at the same price point just with 20GB difference on both.

Eh, I was partially joking around, I honestly know next to nothing about it and it's all settled down. I didn't want to start anything up again, just wanted to answer ya best I could so you wouldn't be confused. I just know the game section was closed down, and almost taken away. Hippie and another mod (sry name eludes me atm) are currently in charge tho. No incidents since and everyone seems happy.

So far I haven't run into a BC problem other than Twisted Metal Head-on: Extremely Twisted Edition, and the only problem there is the fire is dispersed, where on the PS2 I've heard it stays in one place and looks like actual fire lol. Other than that everythings worked nicely.
