I think the score throws a lot of people off since most of it is just rock and guitar.
But, I think the score was really great in the Mark I scenes right after Raza tells Tony he has til tomorrow to finish his missile and it shows Tony getting ready with the suit. -TNC |

I don't get where it says that Iron Man needs to have a hard rock/guitar type of score. Not saying you can't use that stuff. But you know, there just didn't sound like there was much of it there.
By itself the music sounds OK, but it added very little to the actual movie.

It had a distinct enough theme to remember,(duh duh duh duh, duh duh duh, DUH DUH), but it wasn't really anything special. I found out that TOm Morello from Rage played the guitar part for the score (it said in the credits), and it sounds like a guitar riff he would play. I just wished it were better. No biggie though, the movie was still good.

the score wasn't bad..but it's not great either. I still think that x-men 1 had one of the better Marvel scores (runs away)

I can run off some more I'm saying marvel (and to a large extent dc) don't write epic scores, they write scores to service the movie.
ten years from now 'hum the superman score' 'do do do do do - do do do do do do do do - do do do do do do do do - DO DO DO!!! 'hum the iron man score' er... 'okay, hum the spider-man score' erm... 'hum the x-men score' ... 'hulk score?' ... 'hum ANY marvel score' ... |

Interesting list - I would never rank Spider-Man above Star Wars, and I don't think Iron Man would make the Top 7. There are other, more memorable scores...Back to the Future, for instance.

If I would do a list of all the great themes Iron Man wouldn't be in the top 10 .

First time around I didn't notice any theme musice at all. Didn't even notice the score throughout the movie. Didn't even think about the music until I read this forum. Pretty good for getting me in the mood without me even realizing it, and good cover for hiding from my eventual judgement of the subject. But this is a superhero movie, and kinda a big deal, so recognizable music would be appriciated.

The score wasnt that memorable, but two songs were complete gems imo: "Driving with the top down" and "Fireman"...The scenes where Tony Stark is taking Mark 1 out for a test flight and it has "Driving with the top down" playing in the background are pure gold... The song captures the feel of the moment really well...When I listen to the song I feel like Im in the Iron Man suit flying around and having a blast.
