I am not 100% convinced about that... For someone like Depp or Oldman, it would not because they are well-known, it would be because they are f#@king awesome.

I think that you can have a 2nd teir guy like Fiennes, IF the story is great, and he captures the real characterization of Strange.

I think the easy choice is Daniel Day Lewis but the chances of getting him are remotely impossible. He rarely does movies and would probably not do this movie unless the attached director was a God.

I would prefer Joaquin Phoenix as Dr. Strange but Joaquin just retired. 2 bad movies and he gets pissed of the critics and quits for music.

I agree with people that say it doesn't have to be a top tier actor for Dr. Strange. The budget will probably be low enough to bring in a B-lister as long as they get a competent director and well written story. Dr. Strange's name alone is "strange" enough to make people curious.

See, now I could actually view Keanus as Strange. I know he has fanboy ire, but his mannerisms and voice fit the character perfectly. Most people view him as somewhat of a quirky weirdo, even after he saves them from imminent doom.

Maybe but why take the risk? You know that Depp or Keanu can make job done. You know that people like them. You know that Marvel as the money and you also know that Doctor Strange is not the most popular guy among comic book fans.

I don't really view someone like Fiennes as a risk. He is recognizeable, and is a proven actor... He doesn't have major mojo like Depp or Reeves, but, as you said...

He is not the most popular guy at all... thus, a major hollywood name may heavily over-shadow the character. As in, Dr. Strange being seen as a Johnny Depp movie, rather than about Dr. Strange the character.

I think I prefer someone like Fiennes, but again... Jim Caveizel is my top pick.

Keanu for Strange? WTF!

Fiennes FTW

Caveizel is really boring. I think Frequency was the only movie I liked with him in it, although Strange is a much better fit for him than Superman (wherever that suggestion came from)

The only reason I wouldn't pick Keanu and Depp is that a lot of big actors are snubbing superhero trilogy after the first movie.

I always been in favor of not well known actor but you can`t have both at the same time, a not so popular actor and superhero. Superman Batman spider man and Hulk can definitely have an unknown caracter but not Doctor Strange. It s not the same league.

Ralph Fiennes is indeed a good actor but he wont buy tickets. If you want Doctor Strange to survive you gonna have to look for some one bigger than Fiennes.,,Unlless you have a big actor to play the villain role.

Check blade for an example .If it was not Snipes I`m not so sure the movie would be that big.

Clooney is not responsible for a terrible batman3 it s shumacer the problem. Brad pitt is ok it s just that is size is a problem...especially for Thor...

You think like a producer. From what I read I feel like if you could have an awesome Dr. Strange movie with Ralph Fiennes with the possibility for no sequels or a medicore Dr. Strange movie with Keanu Reeves with the possibilty of three movies (completely hypothetical) you would pick Reeves.
