PAD is funny as hell. All of his comics make me laugh without trying too hard.

Eh, PAD's one of those guys I'm concerned about whenever he writes Thor, but otherwise he's aces.
Red's a pussy. All Thor's imitators are, to some extent, compared to the real deal. I gotta post the pics of Thor utterly wiping the floor with Eric Masterson later. Same powers and Masterson even has Mjolnir, but Thor still beats the holy f***ing hell out of him.

Thor's immortal-ish, he's had a very long time to hone those powers, where Masterson did not.

Yep. Thus, Thor is totally better at fighting and thus Thor kicks his ass.

Beta Ray Bill did, too. But Thor ultimately proves to be stronger than either of them.

Yeah, Kurse was cool.
But now, young Asgardians from the vastly underrated Thor: Son of Asgard series: There's li'l Thor, of course (with not-so-little Hera): ![]() Li'l Balder: ![]() Li'l Sif: ![]() Li'l Loki: ![]() And even li'l Brunnhilde, our favorite Valkyrie: ![]() And li'l Thor again, just for kicks: ![]() I wish we could get another mini-series from this period.

Agreed. I love both versions of Thor, but visually, the Ultimate version blows the other ones out of the water.

Thor Son of Asgard was awesome. I heard that due to its popularity they were going to continue it. LIARS!

Well, they did continue it. It was initially only 6 issues but it got extended to 12.
As for Ultimate vs. 616, I'll take the King Thor armor or Coipel's redesign any day. The only visually interesting thing about Ultimate Thor is the glowy discs. His hammer is like a bad anime weapon--ridiculously oversized and silly-looking.

Yeah, but it's by the same guys who've brought us the last few DTV movies, so I'm not particularly enthused. I mean, it's great exposure for Thor and I'm glad it's getting made, I just don't think I'll wind up enjoying it too much.

I get the feeling that the Tales of Asgard reprints are Marvel's way of feeling out whether there's a real market for a new Tales series after the success of the Ages of Thunder one-shots. I hope I'm right about that and that whoever winds up on a new ToA series takes some inspiration from the Son of Asgard series.

They're very similar. Tales of Asgard features tales of various characters from throughout Asgard's history, including Thor and the rest of the current series' main characters in their younger years. Son of Asgard just stripped away the other stuff and focused solely on them. So it's like a more focused subset of Tales of Asgard.
