The only female roles from the draft I read that I can recall are:

Sif, Karnilla, Frigg (Thor's mother), and Eiric(a viking commoner Thor befriends)'s wife

Not sure what to make of the Portman rumor. If she is desperate to get a Marvel gig we might have to pool our funds and hire Jeff Gillooly to go after ScarJo.

Hmm. The first two names that come to mind are Sif and Enchantress. I'd wager the speculation is about the former. Nat's great, but I don't really see her as either. Maybe some random chick connected to Blake in Midgard.

If they go with a script not so different from the 1st draft, there'll be no Enchantress... or Don Blake. If not Sif, maybe the viking woman... or Loki's lover.

What are you guys preferences for Sif's costume? I'm partial to the Son of Asgard one. I think it would translate well to film. I'd cover her midriff, though.

There aren't a lot of chicks. I guess it's up to Karnilla to look hot & actually fill out a costume. Hopefully she'll be in amazonian proportions.

If NP is chosen, she won't be able to fill out the costumel. She is one of the skinniest women in hollywood. She looks anorexic. Best bet would be to cover up the bones & hope the camera plus the added clothes will fill her out.

That's part of why I like Cobie Smulders for Sif. She's like 5'9". Respectable warrior goddess size.

Also, people putting that pic of Sif next to Portman and saying she looks all right should probably be aware that that's Sif as whatever the Asgardian equivalent to a teenager is. Meaning she's like half a foot shorter than she'll grow up to be and her figure hasn't filled out completely. For comparison, here's what Thor (who's a little older than Sif) looks like in that period, by the same artist, no less:

Not a scrawny lad by any means, but certainly not as big as we'd like to see Thor on the screen.

I like the idea of Natalie Portman as Sif. Sure, she's not super tall or busty like all the drawings of Sif, but I'd rather see someone with her acting chops in the role than someone who looks like the page, but falls short in the acting category

Meh, there are so many tall actresses who fit the role physically and are still good actresses that I can't help being disappointed that Portman's even being considered. I still favor Smulders, but I would be cool with tamron's suggestion of Missy Peregrym, too. She seems to be a decent actress in Reaper.

Also, since Lobo asked earlier, I'd favor the Son of Asgard costume for movie-Sif, as well. True, she only wore it as a kid, but her adult costumes have all been pretty terrible. I'd say give her a nice winged headdress to go along with the costume and she'd be set.
