I totally agree. I never understood that complaint. Maybe the action was sub par in X1, but that was sub par in a lot ways and I think Singer definitely got the hang of things by the time X2 came out.

I did enjoy the Weapon XI fight. The deathstrike one was good too, too bad she didnt have no damn personality, funny how both of the best fights the enemies were just mind controlled zombies.
and remember, silver bullets kill werewolves, adamantium bullets kill wolverines

I have to say though, I thought a few other sequences would have more votes than they have gotten.

He can direct action, but it does tend to be very choreographed. Viewers today expect brutal action, the sort that pulls at your gut and shows real power and rage. Like in the Bond or Bourne movies.

Wolvie fighting Weapon XI was awesome as well as his fight with Deathstryke. Let's not forget the fights between Wolvie and Sabertooth in all the films. As well as his fight with Gambit, and his fight with Juggernaught. Hmmm, they were all so great, but I'll have to think which one is my favorite. I'm honestly thinking Wolverine vs. DeathStryke was the best. I mean, that fight was just awesome, but I'm still not too sure.

Hmm I think Wolvie vs. Deathstrike is probably the best, but my favorite would have to be the forest scene in X3. Wouldn't that in a way count as a '1 on 1' fight? The mutant with the pine cones (
) coming out of his wrists vs. Wolverine. They were the center of the whole sequence with Wolvie taking out random mutants in between. I thought it was awesome. I remember how cool the little smirk that mutant gave when he hit Logan the first time and threw two more near him on the ground, and then he slowly brought out two more in his arms.

Wolverine against Weapon XI is probably my favorite. The teloporting scene was so well done.
Against Deathstrike is a close second.

Phoenix vs Xavier was a close second , I also really liked the Gambit vs Wolverine but the ladder chopping looked too awkward.

I agree about the ladder chopping.
About Xavier and Phoenix...well, it wasn't an one vs one fight. Xavier was just sit. He couldn't do anything at all, but talk.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't that last, like, five seconds and end with Cyclops getting majorly punked?

The best FIGHT is Phoenix vs. Xavier, but the best overall scene is Phoenix vs. Wolverine on Alcatraz.

Why do so many people think that the fight between Wolverine and Lady Deathstrike was the best?
As far as I'm concerned, it's EASILY the worst. I don't get why people would enjoy the way too overly choreographed fights like Wolverine vs. Lady Deathstrike that really take you out of the depth and drama of the film, when X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men Origins: Wolverine are full of more gritty, raw, and realistic looking fights that don't take you out of the actual movie.

It might have been a little choreographed, but it was still an excellent fight. And in spite of this fact, it actually WAS quite brutal.
But to each their own, I guess. I mean, I for one can't understand how you would vote for the (in my eyes) cheese-fest that was Phoenix vs. Xavier.

In my opinion the Mystique/Wolverine fight is the worst of them all. But the problem is with ANY Wolverine fight the drama, depth, and realism is takes you out of the moment because he can't die. ALL of the fights in X-Men Origins: Wolverine had the right idea but they REALLY dropped the ball on the fights between him and Victor. |
