Here's the the link for those who haven't seen it. http://www.youtube.com/thejokerblogs

As far as Heath Ledger Joker impersonators go, and lord knows there's so many, he's one of the better ones.
I enjoy his vids.

I don't know... his voice just doesn't have that cadence to it like Ledger's. The cadence is what made Heath's Joker fascinating in my opinion.

he definitely needs to work on his voice, but the mannerisms are spot on.

LOL, well....It's his voice for one thing, there's just something about it I don't like. Of corse, I know mine isn't perfect, but his just isn't what I'd expect. I also realy don't like his story line, LOL. Had TDK not came out, he proboly would of been a nice, like....Alternative veiw of the Joker. But having TDK in mind, he just seems a bit off. Just something about him I don't like, LOL.

Everyone seems to love these, but for the life of me I don't get it. His Joker mannerisms are very forced and the voice is hardly close to Heath's take.
Personally CiscOreo is one of the few that I've liked. Others, while original in their lines, just don't have the natural aura in them to portray this abstract character. |

But it is basically an impersonation have you ever seen an impersonator who was 100% accurate? i think the blogs are pretty boring but you have to give the guycredit for trying.

I agree, anyone who tries, gets credit. People can complain all they want about "impersonators", or "costumers",etc. But if he enjoys doing them, who cares? I won't judge him in that manner at all. Now, I will judge his preformace (Like evryone), but I'd never tell him to stop doing them. If he enjoys them, then he should keep doing it.

What would be great is if he (or someone else on tube) tried an impression of Nicholsons, Hamils and Romeros joker!

Ya know something, speaking of voices, Gabriel Macht has a great Batman voice. I'm not saying we need to recast Bale, but check out Macht's growl in "The Spirit". We need more of that!!

This guy does : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1HiTacdT1k Well, not Romero's Joker, but Nicholson's and Hamil's one. And he's pretty good, I think. As for the Joker Blogs, i just love his job. I don't think his Joker mannerisms are forced. He's just right for me. He got him under his skin and plays naturally, as if he was the character. His voice, well... He seems to be young and Heath had an extraordinary voice that could reach the highest as the lowest sounds. Anyway, Heath was Heath... *sigh* He still got a little work to do, but he's already talented. |

I've seen the blogs many times and I like them best when he's got a message to say, punctuated by a nice punchline in the end, and when he doesn't try too hard to imitate Heath, which he doesn't a lot of the time, especially in the later vids. Many people have commented already that what they admire the most about him is his deviation from Heath's performance and creating his own "version" of the Joker, so to speak, instead of simply parroting the actor's lines with a perfect gruff/nasally/high-pitched voice and mannerisms at the right intervals. He tried something different and it definitely worked because he's got a ton of fans hanging on his every word, especially fangirls (which was inevitable IMO, he's based on Heath Ledger after all
). The TDK Joker, he's like the Edward Cullen of the Batverse! Urk. Yes, I went there. Can't be the only one who thinks this is true...The only thing that tends to bother me sometimes are fan(girl)s who yell at people who dare to disagree with their high opinions of this guy. Some act like they'd scalp you with relish if you said anything remotely negative about his videos. Sheesh, just calm down and don't take it to heart so much... From their behaviour I guess they're pretty young still and very devoted and loyal to their crush. And a MAJOR crush he is because why else do fangirls want to know if this guy is single or not? LOLZ. But for me it's best to take these things in stride and just enjoy the show. I also like the fact the vids follow a story and have recurring characters. There's a real build-up the viewers can enjoy. The story isn't just snippets from his Arkham sessions, it's actually going somewhere and many are already bemoaning the fact it's going to end soon. I think it's this build-up and the anticipation that helped Blog Guy have such a loyal following, and it is considerable, you have to hand him that if nothing else. His fans do a lot of promotion for him, mentioning him everywhere, so that his fanbase is constantly growing. (The wig's great also, I wish I had one like that! It surprises me when folks are shocked to hear it's not his real hair. Who cares if it's a wig, it's pretty awesome. And now he's in complete costume as well and he looks great in it.)

I actually quite enjoy these blogs. They have some great lines, and it's really interesting to watch.
I just came across the TJB site, and they have a list of quotes http://thejokerblogs.com/content/?p=324#more-324

I think he's excellent. The best part of his impersonation to me is the disturbing and unpredictable quality to his performance. He makes me laugh at the beginning, but at the end I'm sometimes too stunned to do anything but sit there and ponder what I just seen. That was the same feeling I got from Ledger's performance. It's like Oh god, what's he gonna do next?!
The costume and makeup are good too. Some of the best quality You Tube videos I've seen.

I watch. His impersonation is decent, maybe 7 of 10, (I've yet to see CiscOreo) but what stands out to me is the writing - which is usually clever and interesting. He's strung together enough coherent episodes now that he's distanced himself from TDK enough and put his own stamp on the character while still clearly paying tribute to Heath.
He's tapped into a viral-esque quality as well that teases viewers and encourages them to feel like his world is real. The production values are pretty good and even the co-stars seem like they know what they're doing. I give him credit for putting it together. |

But like you Pennyworth, the thing which struck me more than anything were the storylines and the production, plus the acting is very good. The scripts are very original, and he's taken it to a broader scope outside of the TDK world now, which is good. It's more than just an impersonation - it's more like a mini-movie.

That guy does a spot on impression of all those Jokers. I like how he used lines from B89 and used a Ledger voice. No make-up, but those are really good.
