POTC2 really was the first negatively reviewed movie to get into the 400M club. But by comparison with TF2, POTC2 was a masterpice according to critics. Eh, only the 500M and up club remains untainted.

I duuno if i would call POTC 2 negatively reviewed. Yeah i know it has a 53 % rating on RT but IMO it was quite enjoyable. And it definately was one of those movies where i think critics and the general audience didn't quite look eye to eye on this.
But yeah TF though. 19 %.... With news of more and more movies being shown in 3-d i think that the 400 million mark will be reached faster and more frequent by other movies.Regardless of people thinking it as a gimmick , one has to admit that it is driving people the the cinema. Ice Age 3 actually outgrossed Harry Potter in foreign markets while G-Force was tough competion for Harry Potter in foreign markets. Even movies like Final Destination and My Bloody Valentine performed "well" because of the 3-d. Anyway i am lad that ROTF wasn't shown in 3-d though. It would've killed my eyes from watching everything in MIchael Bay'sMTV style editing

Well what I meant being that it's the sole under 60% film in the 400+ club. Not for long though.
But yes, it still was able to get slightly more positive reviews than negative ones. But it used to be a rotten film could never get into that club. Ah, the good ole' days.

I thought TF:ROTF was much better than POTC2 to be honest, and I like both franchises.

Not really that surprising to be honest. I think everyone knew this was gonna make good money whether it was the pile of **** that I think it is or whether it was a cinematic tour de force.

This begs the obvious question; If you don't need to put out excellent quality to make mega-bucks then why bother with all the extra effort that requires?

![]() With today's ticket prices and huge opening weekends, $400 million isn't ridiculously unattainable anymore. Color me impressed when another $450+ million comes up.

I'm actually suprised it's not going to gross as much as POTC2 with that huge opening.

It was like a ADD suffering teenagers wet dream. That is what TF 2 was. Sure the SFX were great and the action was great. But that isn't an achievement, that is to be expected in this day and age. And Bay has been doing that sorta stuff for so long it really shouldn't be applauded that it is the ONLY thing good about the film. |

Michael Bay is a license to print money, because there are a lot of people all over the world, not just in the states, that are like him. He's loud, he's brash, he doesn't apologize for being it. His movies demonstrate that, and it's appealing.

That's because apparently WOM is worse. But yeah, it's interesting to see how frontloaded most of the big films are getting.

I hope this falls short and doesnt beat Spider-man.
I pretty much knew it would hit 400 million...imagine if it was actually good. I guess 400 million is the new 300 million...or will be, pretty darn soon since 400 million is becoming much more common now. Next year Iron Man 2 and Toy Story 3 are the top contenders for 400 million, and Avatar still has a chance but Im a bit skeptical for that one.

Exactly, TDK is the much better movie, but what am I going to want to watch after a hugely stressful day at work were I get people moaning at me all day? Sorry, but i'm gonna go with TF2.

Much better to say 400M isn't nearly what it used to be a decade ago when films like Spider-Man & Titanic were out.
