shaders.
in the 3d software you can tell the software to make it looks like a car material,brushed metal or you can make it look like plastic.
they use the cheap plastic materials for fast rendering.
so this could be the real model but with simple materials.

The last I heard was that the "Art of Transformers Movies" book was not going to happen, but I hope that’s wrong. There was a ton of great stuff made for the movie. My two favorite designs for the film didn’t make it in to the movie: a red constructacon by Ben Procter and a sports car by Ryan Meinerding. I had a design based on a submarine that didn’t make it, and I thought that was pretty sweet as well. Maybe for Transformers 3.

I wanna see these. The sub sounds sweet.

So they kept Arcee & Chromia's original color but went a different route with Flareup .... still don't like the name.

The golden portion appears to be Flareup's section. Which is interesting, since the color certainly fits her non-film counterpart.

ugh looks like some kid just super glued a couple model bikes together. Still can't believe Bay chose this over the TF1 design. Compared to this the TF1 design looks like a masterpiece.

That bio just makes me all the more sad she got blowed up. Arcee too, but possibly not as irrepairably(sP?). Michael Bay can suck it for that...

I'm sure Flareup and Arcee would easily be able to return in the third. And I seriously hope Bay brings them back - I fell in love with they're crazy, asymmetrical designs.

Maybe Ratchet and Jolt fuse their parts together? Flarcee? LOL

I wouldn't mind it if one had the unicycle design, but all 3 seemed like a waste. EsPecially considering how great Arcee's scrapped design was for TF1.

I can barely see Chromia in the back...just that little blue bit.

I wonder if this means we'll be getting the Twins combiner concept soon?
