well i myself dont know how characters are going in the comics, since i dont read dc much at all. But i am happy as long as the characters are taken with care and honnor. But yea no character in any company stays one way forever, they have their ups and downs, their good storylines and their stupid/odd/strange storylines. Only thing we can hope is the characters are done right and they make the right choices.

Yeah -- just the BO numbers. Not the quality or whatever. Had the movie done better in theaters, we'd be waiting for the sequel now. And the first appearance of Krypto!

That's true. Spiderman 3 and Transformers 2 are getting sequels. That's not happening because of any sign of quality there.

counts on what type of villain it is, cause there is villains in the dcu that would be perfect for a comdian. Then of course you cant just nab on a comdian maybe they want to try and do more dramatic/different work too. Look at a carrey or a sandler yes they are more known for their comedy work, but they can also do drama and other type of work too.

what about seeing the public stand up to the villain or block their way to a beaten Superman like with what happened in Spidey 2? would it be laughable if the public were standing up to Doomsday or Darkseid?

It's more or less been done before in TAS. It led to one of the most gut-wrenching moments in the entire show.

Well, in the case of movies like Transformers 2 for example...they apparently offered something in them, and before them, that allowed their ticket sales to overcome their quality...unfortunately SR did not. Hopefully, they'll do better in both departments on a new one.

what about altering the look of the villains so that they look more like something out of Smallville or Heroes than what they do in the comics or from STAS?

no make them look like what they look like in the comics. if you need to change them do to the costume they have in the comics not working in the movie fine but no way make look like something from another tv show.
