I actually like them both equally but in the movies, the Djawadi score was given more room to stand out and be noticable. The Debney score sometimes got over-shadowed by the sound effects in the movie(the part of the monaco race coming immediately to mind). The sounds of the racecars nearly drowns out the score at that point and I really like that part of the IM2 score.

that's how I feel...some tracks I'd take over Ramin's, but the same goes for Debney as well.

The Monaco track(track 10) is the best one of the second movie that I've heard so far, IMO.

Anybody else prefer Ramin Djawadi's score ? Sure, Debney's was better crafted maybe. But Ramin's score had this fun factor to it that is absent in Debney's dry score.

+ some tracks were totally IGNORED (which I really liked - for example, Housefight MKI) and changed into some 2Pac stuff (I am not the hip-hop guy anyway, I prefer the rock of 60's-90's, so I was okay with the Clash). Ramin's score, on the other hand, fitted PERFECTLY with action scenes and was very special and remarkable through all IM fans. |

I feel the same way. I was waiting for that familiar badass theme from the first one. The one that when you see him turning towards the screen in his mark 1 armor for the first time makes you think "HOLY ****!". There was nothing of the sort in this one. They pulled the same crap in Hellboy 2 and that pissed me off.

I'd say IM2 is a huge improvement over IM1. Monaco is one of my favorite tracks and I love the Guitar riff on Sledgehammer MK1. I wish they would hurry up and release the CD so I can buy it.

so, since it's been out, how does everyone think of the score, sans the sfx? I still say what I originally said : As good as the first, and I'm a huge fan of ramin's score...

I liked it, but it would have been soo much better if it had like, atleast one memorable theme like Driving With The Top Down, whenever I think of the first Iron Man movie... thats the theme I hear.
But for this score/movie, I guess seeing as there's nothing better, I'd go with the Monaco theme.

Either Jon Favreau or one of Debney's colleagues videotaped one of the scoring sessions. Sounded great. Link.
I don't think that was in the movie at all. And the score is so much better than Ramin's -- you can tell Debney used the orchestra to its fullest. Loved the brass writing here. |

that was in the film, it's the track "Iron Man battles the drones"., the sequence where Hammer gets taken down by Black Widow, and then on.

So I finally got the CD in the mail yesterday, and I'm loving Debney's IM2 score. I've always and still do love Djawadi's score for IM1, but I'm thinking Debney's might just be a tad bit better. Though it's hard too say since some of the tracks from the first movie are classics to me.
Here's to hoping Favreau brings back Debney for IM3.
