I think it would be interesting to have the twist be a film acknowledging the DC multiverse. Can you imagine a threat that once stopped by Superman seems to dissapear into void, Superman follows and he's confronted with images from all previous incarnations of the DCU? He could see an earth with Donner's Superman, Cain's Superman, Welling's superman, etc.

I think it could be a great twist. Show that the Nolan Batman universe exists, but it has it's own place separate.

yea we have no clue between now and when superman does start filming if batman and superman could be existing in the same world. Like many have said before they can just have it batman was the first costumed hero to go public and the others havent came to be yet or gone public yet. Then superman comes to the scene and more alien/scifi stuff start to happen to the world but the world is still a realistic place we seen in batman and all that.

As for any twists i do hope it will just be something basic like brainiac caused krypton to blow up or he is connected to something with krypton. We dont need any crazy twists like a kid again.

I don't know much about superman, but Id like for the twist to be that jor el built brainiac to voyage space and gather information, and as it did so, it began to learn and think. So when he had returned, he had seen so many different societies that were more sufficient than krypton, he believed that krypton or any insufficient planet that harbored life should no longer exist due to its flaws and corruption, so after he had gathered all existing info on krypton he decided to destroy it. But brainiac didn't realize he was missing one last piece of information, the last son of krypton survived.

That kinda gives brainiac motive to destroy supes and earth in the movie, but idk, I was just brain storming.

ok everybody, we have someone who completely knows what they are talking about. close this thread. this guy has everything figured out....oh wait..you havent seen inception? wait! WHAT? you know nothing of this "batman" character? And what do you know of a so-called "SUPERMAN"?

"well" says DIAMONDHEAD, "from what i have heard, he is purple, and IMO a hero cannot be purple." He continues "hercules had super-powers too, do i really need to SEE THAT AGAIN?"

all kidding aside, something to do with supes origins seems to be the most likely to me. how he ended up with the kents...the government's involvement perhaps? maybe the gov't captured him first as a child...say 2 years old....keeps this "alien" as an experiment and does crazy tests on him...the kid grows up a little and develops powers they cannot control and escapes....the kents find him and raise him (or he finds them and they raise him)then he escapes at age 5 or 6 beacuse nothing can contain his powers and the kents "find him" or clark "picks them." Thus begins a decades long manhunt.

the whole time the government has been chasing this "phantom being" with no luck..the search goes cold for 20 years...and then when supes appears on screen a whole new investigation is started..and who else better to aid in this investigation than lex luthor. maybe luthor was the teenage prodigy who first discovered the meteorite that crashed on earth....and now he is the king of technology. a modern day folk hero. supes is an ALIEN. people freak the **** out that a man has these powers. what does he stand for? who does he fight for? who could he destroy with a SNEEZE? play the political angles of this.

there is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much to deal with superman that it is insane to me that we havent gotten a moviethat completely kicks ass

another "surprise twist" could be, as others suggested, and if someone like cavieval or hamm gets the job. is that superman has been superman for 60-70 years and he is completely bored and gives up, like in kingdom come only to return and kickass, even though all hi peeps have died.

ANYWAYS!!!
sorry that was long

I bet you Nolan turns Superman into a regular dude. I don't see how you could do that and still make a Superman movie, but I just got this hunch. And, I also officially have an awful feeling about this movie.

This is odd to have as a separate thread but i will bite. If Nolan does not make Clark a regular relatable guy, then the movie will fail.

Clark being relatable can erase that.
Did you read LaraLane's post? He/She is saying exactly the same thing.

Interesting, especially if Kal-el's actions to repair his ship are what bring about Brainiac.

I think there is a strong possibility we may see a trilogy based on Dan Jurgens vision. "The best selling Superman comic book of all-time." The Death of Superman, World Without Superman (Funeral For A Friend), The Return of Superman, with the main villains being Doomsday, the impostors Steel, Superboy, Cyborg supes, etc.

It would be epic to see Superman's funeral onscreen, Batman (Bale), Green Lantern (Reynolds) cameos.

I think they will go with this very dark version of Supes. It has a lot of major conflicts that can be established on film and it's something that has never been done although the idea has been flirted around with.
