Ive noticed that the RE movies tend to have the "Howard Stern effect".....most of the people that watch hate the movie just to see "what's wrong" and then ***** about it

People should do what I do. I read the spoilers on the Hype then the plot summary on Wikipedia or MovieSpoiler, just to see how Paul Anderson is bastardizing the games, roll my eyes, and move on with my life, eight dollars richer.

I like the movies, I was never a big RE fan, so what they changed or didn't change never bugged me much

People would complain even if these were a scene by scene direct adaptation from game to movie so it's really a moot point.

That said, I think there is a middle ground between sucky translation of the game to screen and sucky movie that ignores the source material in lieu of wirefu that most people would be happy with. Last edited by Matt; 09-10-2010 at 10:56 AM. |

Im with Marx....video games are tough to adapt, what people consider the best adaptation was hardly faithful (Mortal Kombat)

I thought of a better response that involved the Jill sandwich line, none the less, your comment was a broad generalization that paints fans of the games as malcontent idiots. |

I don't want a scene by scene adaption of a game. I just want a good movie based on a video game, which I have not seen yet.

My friend went and saw this last night at midnight in Imax 3D. He liked it alot and this is comming from someone who hates the RE movies. Sure he still complains about the movie not following the games story to the letter but he said it was enjoyable. He said the movie is somewhat of a reboot and is at least making an effort to include more characters from the game. He even said that he might see it again sometime this weekend. He said the 3D was good but nothing mindblowing like Avatar. (Spoiler He did'nt like the fact the movie set up a certain character as the villan for the next movie). My friend gave it a 7 out of 10.
Also, I read the IGN movie review which gave it 3 stars out of 5. I know IGN is a gaming site but I sometimes agree with their reviews on movies as well. Anyway I am still interested to see more reviews from other critics. I know for sure that I will be seeing this this weekend tonight or Saturday night! (Or maybe both since I have a movie gift card I have yet to use) |

I'm wondering if anyone could give a spoiler filled plot summary of the movie?

*May contain some spoilers* (i doubt it)
Mr. Para-Normal, I find it a bit odd your friend didn't like that fact that they set up a "certain character" to be the villian in the next game, when he clearly stated to you that he doesn't like the fact that the movies aren't close to the games. That "certain character is seen as a boss that you have to fight in RE5 Last edited by Not_Sane; 09-10-2010 at 01:17 PM. |

i'll watch the movie on DVD or when its on HBO but from what im hearing it just further bastardizes the series. i mean really is it so hard to follow the Zack Snyder approach to adapting something?

The film turned out better than expected. I was pleased with the way they handled Wesker especially as Chris and Claire were the ones to overpower and defeat him but I felt much distaste with the mutation they gave Wesker. Seeing majini tentacles come out of his mouth and him feeding felt so wrong.

Perhaps you should see the movie first, before passing judgement?
