What connections would you like to see in Xmen: First Class?

True ^^ I'm not much of a fan of Stryker either....but considering his huge role in X2 and that his son is mentioned as going to prof. x school it would be appropriate if his son at least get a cameo.

I would love the opening scene to be Teen Xavier sat round a radio with his family, listen a news report about Jews being taken into camps (linking to X1 opening scene)

then Xavier suddenly starts picking up the thoughts of the Jewish victims... mainly a scared teenage boy (Eric) maybe into cut with the X1 opening scene.

I think it would be nice to connect the openings. As it is a story about Xavier and Magneto.

Maybe Jean wasn't immediately recruited to the school.

And perhaps Xavier didn't gather all the students in one go. Jean could have been among the very first in the movieverse version of events. She could have been there already when Xavier rescued those kids at the end of the Wolverine movie.

Xavier might have had other students for years and years before that rescue took place. Such as Jason Stryker, who it seems was an earlier student for him to then be deep-frozen at Stryker's base on Three Mile Island (I presume Jason had been to Xavier's school already at that point).

Of course, First Class might make it all more structured than that.

Well I think that's what I'm saying, Maniac, is that the timeline, as seen in the movies, would show that Jean was probably recruited before Cyclops, and the rest on Three Mile Island.

Also, I believe that Jason Stryker would have been an earlier student at Xavier's, since if I recall, Stryker mentions his wife's death in X-Men Origins: Wolverine meaning that Jason would have been at Xavier's school long before Cyclops and the rest, since Jason causes Mrs. Stryker's death -AFTER- returning from Xavier's school.

Yep, so that also supports the idea that Cyclops wasn't necessarily a part of the truly original group of students at the school..

Maybe Cyclops becomes one of the first "X-Men" as he got older, but the X-Men probably didn't form until after the Three Mile Island incident.

Why should this movie be canon w/ the other films?

Wolverine Origins made a mess trying to tie up all the loose ends... there's no need to dwell on stupid facts or rule out certain characters/situations because some mutant made a cameo in X2... plenty of film sequels/prequels recast and ignore details from previous films with no consequence or audience resentment (I used the James Bond series as an example in another thread)--Look at Sabretooth from X1 to Wolverine... I dont' really want to hear an explanation as to how Silver Fox and Emma Frost are related or how Cyclops was rescued by Professor X along with a whole crop of mutants they later forget existed.. Let it go. Tell the story as it was meant to be told. I don't expect 100% comic book authenticity.. that would be ludicrous! But I do hope for the best film possible that includes the best characters (Say what you want about Angel but Iceman is a favorite and both should be included in this incarnation)

From what I understand, that is what they are doing w/ the Deadpool film (whether the film gets made or not the plan is to retell his origin) I see no problem doing that here as they don't have to reboot the whole series just ignore small details that were thrown in on a whim... who cares if it was 10 or 15 or 20 years ago... how about we make a movie that is enjoyable to watches and pleases movie-goers while sating the fandoms appetite for authenticity. Not that hard.

Cool idea.

For the record I think continuity is important (especially with movies like this that come out relatively close together) because it means the viewer is watching pieces of a larger story as it unfolds.

I would enjoy seeing a connection of young Xavier using his new found ability on random people in public. He eventually enters the mind(more or less the Mutant Destiny, or even Marcus of Limbo)of mutant that can see the future and travel to the past. We see scenes from the first three flicks, with Rogue being the common element. In the final vision we see the young Xavier approaching a slightly older Rogue, with her back to him. As he comes around the side of her, he now notices(miss marvel)a strange woman kneelin' before Rogue, the thick fog quickly dissappears, to show us, with her hands around the neck of Miss Marvel chokin' the life from her. A voice in the background commands her not to let go. Scarlet Witch then walks throuh the young Xavier as he is just a projection. Rouge squeezes harder, as Mysitque shifts into her blue self. Lastly. The ground vanishes beneath all of them except for Marvel, she fades away. Mysitque shifts into a bird and flies away. Rogue is saved by(a suggestion for who saves her. anyone?)someone.She shakes it off, takes off into flight towards a Sentinel, who has fired those hand tentacles. Of course we get see Rogue grab both tentacles, picking it up only to smash it as she lands on her feet. Much like the opening credits in the early animated series.

yea I agree, Stryker's story has been told in 2 films. It could be a possibility between this films and (potential) sequel that Jason came to Xavier's school,and left before Cyke & the other's showed up, hence in X2 when Eric asked Charles if Jaason was a student of his, that indicated that he and X split ways.
