I've got a 12-inch Ben Costume Spidey that was based on the 5-inch super posable sculpt. He sits proudly in my office at work now. Occasionally I use him to drop kick my underlings. Yeah... work CAN be fun.

My custom reilly spider-man was returned to me last monday after a few months of repairs and since its been back I've taken this figure everywhere with me. out to breakfast, on errands, into every room of the house (including the bathroom) and even on dog walks that figure is nestled into my pocket.
I've always contimplated getting that 10" sensational spider-man figure (like you have) but never bought it because I never really bothered to collect a whole heck of a lot of figures in that scale. They take up too much space. Although it just occurred to me I have never seen pics of that figure out of the box. Could you snap a few photos of the figure tommorow when you're at work? I'd like to see what the whole figure looks like from 360 degrees. Last edited by Panther10; 02-06-2011 at 06:53 PM. |

Of my customs? Sure!
![]() ![]() I've made some alterations to these figures in the months that I've owned them. I changed the color of the vest of the scarlet spider because the blue was just a tad too dark. I also changed the belt because the the capsules on the last belt were made out of a soft plastic and the paint would peel everytime the capsules twisted around. I also thinned the spider symbols on his vest. On the spider-ben figure, I changed the eye shape to make them more bagley-esque and then changed the lower outer legs on the spider symbols because originally the connected under his armpits. I made sure they were paralell with his spine. Hope you like them though. for all of the changes I made I made damn sure they matched the quality of loosecollectors work. (at least to the best of my abilities.) |

Hey enforcer, I just had a really cool idea for your website since I'm somewhat inspired with all this toy talk. Why dont you dedicate a section on the ben reilly tribute to fan collections? That way people can share photos of what peices they own and maybe write a little essay about the items they treasure the most.

Sure! Sorry, my boss took the work camera on vacation, when he comes back I'll photograph the figure. I think thats a cool idea about the collections.
I've also proposed a cool contest idea to the good people at Spidey-Dude. If something comes of it you all will be the first to know

The Cover For Book 5, as well as the normal issue, I have seen it as a different cover only once though...
It was a Plastic Cover kind of like Maximum Clonage Alpha where you opened it and part of the image disappeared (cause it was on the "clear" plastic cover)

yeah thats a nice looking figure. probably the nicest manufactured ben reilly figure ever made. too bad none of the 5 inch figures look that good. hell its too bad that even the 5" superposeable figure isnt just a scaled down copy of this figure. The spider symbol on the 5" figure is horrendous looking and it doesnt even come with any web shooters.
Found a pic of the figure I was talking about.

I just stumbled across something very interesting while I was re-reading Andrew Goletz's "Life of Reilly" 35 part saga. The following entry comes from part 26 of the original article:
[ GLENN'S COMMENTS : The Godzilla-like monster also appeared on the cover of the issue, and apparently it looked TOO MUCH like Godzilla, because Marvel was very nearly sued by Toho, the Japanese film company that makes all the Godzilla movies and owns all the rights to the character. They are very protective of the character, and they go after anyone they feel has exploited the property without their permission. That's very understandable and any other character-driven company, including Marvel, would and should do the same exact thing. As I recall, Toho sent a "cease and desist" order to Marvel, and although the issue was already in print and could not be recalled, we had to go back and change the artwork so that if the story was ever reprinted, the monster would look nothing like Godzilla. ] I thought that this just might be a little relevent with the impending release of the rest of the clone saga TPBS set to be released within the comig year. So when that issue is finally reprinted, looks like spidey wont be facing off against godzilla the second time around. |

I think they already have an alternate cover where it has been changed to look less like Godzilla. I hope it won't be all blacked out, but it's only one page of a trade so... I can live with it.

This is the Special Cover:
http://www.samruby.com/SpectacularC/...der-Man229.jpg The top piece flips up to reveal only Scarlet left overlooking the City. As you lift it, it makes it look like Pete & MJ are swinging away, all-in-all a nicely done special cover that embodies the story inside.

Huh, you know... I have that issue but I don't think I've ever taken it out of the bag to notice it was a special cover...

Ah, the ol' lenticular covers. Those offered some creative possibilities beyond the standard variants. Wizard made some nice uses of them on their special reprints.
