We’ve known for a while now that, with most of its major characters already in play (Iron Man, Captain America, Thor) or in the hands of other studios (Spider-Man, X-Men, Fantastic Four), Marvel is searching its catalog for lesser-known properties that could find new line on film or television: Black Panther, Cloak & Dagger, Jessica Jones/Alias, Runaways and Iron Fist.
Now add to that list the Inhumans, the race of superhumans created in 1965 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. Badass Digest reports the studio is developing a movie that, according to an It’s On the Grid entry, would reimagine the Inhumans as “aliens who were put on Earth as sleeper cell aliens to eventually call back their race to take over the planet.” However, “ultimately, the group of aliens fully assimilates and don’t want to cause war.” The project is apparently out to writers, and no further information is available. We probably shouldn’t read too much into that description, as much could change between now and the time a script is handed in — if the movie even makes it that far. However, it seems like a solid concept for an update, part socio-political commentary, part young-adult sci-fi novel (a la, say, I Am Number Four). But maybe that is reading too much into it … http://spinoff.comicbookresources.co...nhumans-movie/

I would have assumed this was part of the FF deal with Fox, but I guess not. While I am happy to see Marvel owns this, I would have rather these characters were introduced via the FF like in the comics...

Uh, I think the link was to CBR, not CBM.
Notice how the first post is copied entirely from CBR's Spinoff site?

Hmmm sounds more like Captain Marvels story. Why not just use him instead of changing the Inhumans to fit that role?

They are basically really evolved humans. The Kree came to Earth and did experiments on humans to create super powered beings to fight the Skrulls for them.

So Marvel got the rights of Inhumans back from Fox, but not Fantastic Four? How is it that Fox still holds on to FF's licensing rights is beyong me.

From the news in SHH's front page, it is said that originally Inhumans were to be developed within the FF movie universe, but the rights are now reverted back to Marvel.

It seems like a mix of Inhumans and Captain Mar-Vell. He was a Kree sleeper agent who lived on Earth, but fell in love with it and went against his own race to protect it. |

I would only want to see an Inhumans movie as a part of the current "marvel universe" of films in development.. I don't want to see any more totally-divorced continuities..
I like the Paul Jenkins/Jae Lee circa-2000 maxi-series as the basis for a film.. not much else stands out to me.. the initial pitch/description sounds too much like Secret Invasion and the Sub-Mariner mini-around the same time.. |

It's an interesting idea. I've kind of been hoping the Inhumans will belong to Marvel so they can be used in an Avengers film. I'ld love for Crystal to become an Avenger and even out the gender roles a bit.
Still weird seeing Marvel and Disney together like that. Have to wait and see how that turns out... |

I hope this gets made as a part of phase 3. I think Crystal is probably the only candidate for the lead role. I almost can't imagine Black Bolt working as a big, cinematic hero. But I can't wait to see them try. |

I really don't see Black Bolt being the main character. He'd probably fill a more Odin-esque role, with the rest of the characters as an ensemble.

Yeah, it'd be pretty impossible to have Black Bolt as the lead. Crystal is the only Inhuman who I could see working as the genuine lead for the movie.
But he should play a major part, bigger than Odin did, I think. More like Professor X in X-Men, with less talking and more fighting. |

I wouldn't be suprised if they added an 'Agent John Myers' type character to this movie (if they made it) so the audience has someone 'normal' to look through the eyes of.
Thanks for bumping this thread. I'll post my casting choices this weekend when I have more time. |
