No it has not.
No official comment from WB as of yet and I am unaware of any news site (including SHH) that has confirmed the details of the Variety story.
What we know is she got cast or is pretty close to it (Deadline also has an exclusive) but that's it.
Interesting, if they do use the recent Faora from the comics, then Ursa is a completely different character that exists alongside Faora.
But no Faora confirmation yet, so she may have been cast as Ursa.

Actually Variety had the story first but had to fact check before it got published. Meanwhile Deadline rushed the story out before Variety and guessed it was Ursa.

It was all documented on twitter on Snieder's account. It's Faora, not Ursa.

Yeah, the alternate Zod was actually executed by New Earth Superman for destroying Matrix/Supergirl's world. Highly unlikely that we'll get Russian Zod.

I definitely have a feeling that we're going to get a story heavily influenced by Birthright, however in MOS it would appear there's going to be a real Kryptonian invasion of some sort (even if it's only two Kryptonians) and Superman's going to be forced to choose between Earth and Krypton. And personally, I'd really like if they explored that, because I feel like a lot of writers have tended to overemphasize Superman's longing for his lost homeworld rather than accepting and embracing that Earth is his new one.
