I've been catching up with Fringe through the DVDs. I'm on season 2 right now.

Well they have already ordered 12 episodes so we are prolly going to get that many and I doubt that they only count the people that have Neilson ratings boxes, thought it may be true, it just seems so antiquated.

Fox did say Fringe's strong DVR performance in the demos was part of the move to Friday and their renewal. But Friday is a different creature since its such a low rated night.
Fox has way too many shows, I can see them just doing uninterrupted 12-13 episode seasons for most of their new shows.

Terra Nova and Touch we know already won't get a full season and likely Finder and Alcatraz won't either. However it is likely be the last seasons of House and Bones next season so they new shows could get expanded orders for season two.

Ask the Lone Star guys how that went. They only aired 4 to 5 episodes but had more made. Just saying. Just because they ordered a certain number of episodes does not mean they will air them all if the ratings suck

This has JJ's name attached though and Fox seems to like him. Plus his ****** shows usually get a good chance no matter what.

Fox ordered a second series from Abrams, Alcatraz. There had been concern that the procedural element in it would be overshadowed by a mythology that would only get more dense over time and would put the show on track for Fringe's 1.5-2 demo rating range. But I hear the network's brass concerns were eased after a very good meeting with the producers yesterday that helped clinch the pickup. Abrams and Alcatraz co-creator/showrunner Liz Sarnoff have the credentials -- they pulled off a popular sci-fi series with Lost.

This is positive news in my book, as I was worried it would be bogged down in a mythology that would get to a point that the show struggled to move forward as with JJ's other shows.

'Lost' vet to help produce Fox's 'Alcatraz'

As if Alcatraz didn’t have enough of a Lost pedigree, the Fox show has tapped Jack Bender to join the show as executive producer and director. Bender directed many of the biggest episodes of Lost — 36 of them, according to IMDB, including the finale. He rejoins former Lost producers JJ Abrams, Elizabeth Sarnoff and Bryan Burk on the show which, as you recall, co-stars Jorge (Hurly) Garcia. But can the show reproduce the success of the ABC hit? The pilot — about former inmates who disappeared 50 years ago coming back into modern day San Francisco and committing crimes — feels closer to the first episode of Fringe than that other island adventure.

Fox’s Midseason Series ‘Alcatraz’ Pauses Production On New Episodes For Reshoots

EXCLUSIVE: Fox’s midseason drama Alcatraz has put filming new episodes on hold to do reshoots on some of the 7 completed episodes. The series will stay in production, doing additional principal photography on previous episodes before proceeding with filming the remaining 6 episodes of the series’ 13-episode order. The J.J. Abrams-produced Alcatraz is an ambitious time-travel drama, and since the show is not on a tight delivery schedule, the producers opted to slow down and make improvements on some of the finished episodes. The reshoots are expected to last 1-2 weeks.

When does this debut? I have been looking forward to this. I need a show that I HAVE to watch each week and I think this will fill that void.
