El, I see your points. However, you asked what I think she added and I will say this and stop. She was just eh "average" "layman" that provided comedic relief by saying what most of us wanted to; done solely for the purposes of entertainment. That's what it is. Take it or leave it.
I agree a lot of superhero films are going this direction. Ryan Reynolds as GL is a prime example. Sarcastic witty reluctant superheroes that grow up and become iconic saviors of the world, blah, blah, blah. Yeah they could make these superhero guys closer to the comics, but then again in the 2 hours they have to make the character relatable I guess they feel making them smart asses that grow up is the way to go. There I'm done. Now back to the funny scenes. The warriors 3 and Sif looking like yokels outside the windows. Not a funny scene, but the mention of Hulk/David Banner vanishing after S.H.I.E.L.D. comes through.
